Opinions on the name Althea?

I used to like it mainly because of the origin (Greek) and the meaning (healing, healer) but now I think I seriously like it and was wondering what you guys think. Is it useable?

Also, which syllable do you put the stress on when you say it? I found out that there’s a difference between the US and UK pronunciations.

Edit: I always assumed it was AL-the-a (stress on the first syllable) but have heard people in the US say al-THEE-a. I don’t think it’s a problem, I was just wondering.

I think it’s lovely and usable. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] makes a great nickname.

I live in the UK and I would read it as al-THEE-uh with the stress on the second syllable. But I’ve never met an [name_f]Althea[/name_f] so I’m just guessing.

I like it! It has a quirky cool feel. I think it’s usable.

I’d say al-thee-uh, although I’m not from US nor UK

I love althea! it’s definitely usable

I’m english, and I would say:

i love althea! she’s fun but not frilly. i stress the first syllable.

eta: i’m from the us

Lovely name. I say it like you too. The stress on the [name_f]Thea[/name_f] part of the name. UK here.

Althea is a lovely name. I stress the second syllable, al-THEE-uh. (USA here.)

i love it!! it’s so pretty

I’m from [name_u]Scotland[/name_u], and I would probably say AL-tee-uh to be honest

Althea is bold but familiar with a lovely meaning! I like it.

I’m in the UK and I would pronounce it with the stress on the first syllable

This is me! It’s pretty pronounced this way though I don’t care much for the other pronunciation since it sounds a bit lispy? Seems usable to me!

Althea was the name of one of my more recent ancestors, pronounced al-THEE-uh. I love it and its on our long list. I love the meaning, too!

It’s not my style, but it’s nice. I say all-THEE-uh (so the first syllable rhymes with ball & mall for me, not [name_m]Al[/name_m] or [name_u]Cal[/name_u])

I really like [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. I first heard the name in the Grateful Dead song.

It would make a surprising name on a baby girl! I would definitely say al-THEE-uh unless told otherwise
