Hello All! I have 2 boys, [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u]. We don’t know the gender of #3 and have been struggling with girl names. What do you think of [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_u]Shay[/name_u] or [name_u]Shae[/name_u]. (Name and/or spelling opinions appreciated!) Thanks!
The name isn’t really my style, but she’ll fit in well with her siblings. Somehow [name_u]Shea[/name_u] has more character to me, but as the phonetic version of the name I think [name_u]Shay[/name_u] is less likely to get misspelled than [name_u]Shea[/name_u], which I guess makes it a more usable choice?
Personally I wouldn’t go for [name_u]Shae[/name_u], since that is the name of a prostitute in Game of Thrones.
[name_u]Shae[/name_u] or [name_u]Shay[/name_u] look more feminine and pretty.
I know a girl named Shanay that is nicknamed [name_u]Shay[/name_u].
[name_u]Shay[/name_u] [name_m]Mitchell[/name_m] is an actress, but her full name is [name_u]Shannon[/name_u].
[name_u]Shae[/name_u] is a strong, and somewhat unsavory, female character on Game of Thrones.
You might already know this.
Great name choice! I don’t normally like unisex names, but I like this one. I like sassy, one syllable names for girls.
Honestly, I would think you had 3 boys. [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is cute, but it doesn’t overwhelm me. I love your boys names! [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
I like [name_u]Shea[/name_u], spelled this way. I think its a fun name that works on a little girl and it beautiful on an adult woman.
It’s rather masculine, but in any case stick with the original spelling–[name_u]Shea[/name_u].
I like [name_u]Shea[/name_u] the best (as in shea butter), but you would be surprised how many people will think her name is [name_u]Shia[/name_u] or She. After that, I prefer [name_u]Shay[/name_u]: simple and unmistakable. I don’t really care for ‘ae’ combos, and [name_u]Shae[/name_u] looks a bit made up and insubstantial to me, personally. I have known a [name_u]Shay[/name_u] who spelt her name [name_f]Cheye[/name_f], but I wouldn’t recommend that- it was really confusing.
Doesn’t seem like a girls name to me. Not a fan.
I have a sister-in-law named [name_u]Shea[/name_u]. For the most part people pronounce it correctly, but she always says that back in school kids would call her shea pet (pronounced shee-ah pet after the chia pets that used to be popular). Its really not that bad and she always laughs it off. However, if it were spelled [name_u]Shae[/name_u] or [name_u]Shay[/name_u] the little girl wouldn’t get that as much. I personally like the spellings [name_u]Shae[/name_u] or [name_u]Shea[/name_u]. [name_u]Shay[/name_u] just seems too simple or on the nose…
I think it’s [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is quite lovely. [name_u]Shay[/name_u] is very masculine, I would avoid that.
I like the [name_u]Shea[/name_u] spelling!
I know one boy called [name_u]Shay[/name_u], he’s around 17 now. For that reason, I can’t see the spelling [name_u]Shay[/name_u] on a girl so I’d go with [name_u]Shea[/name_u].
One of my best friends is a woman named [name_u]Shay[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] male cousin is [name_m]Che[/name_m]. So I associate the first spelling with a female.
I would assume you had three boys…I don’t see shae/shay/shea as a girl, but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] shae-lynn.
I prefer [name_u]Shea[/name_u].
