Opinions on the name Sofiana?

What do you think of it? Have you ever met anyone with this name? I would be considering it as a middle name- [name]Eva[/name] Sofiána (pronounced So-FYA-nah.)

I love its nicknames but Sofiana seems a bit over-the-top for me. I like just [name]Eva[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] or even [name]Eva[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] more, personally. I haven’t met someone with the name, though.

For what it’s worth, I would have said so-fee-ah-nah rather than the quicker sofe-yah-nah/so-fya-nah.

Thanks for your reply, ash! I’m pronouncing it with a Greek accent but I realize not everyone would say it that way…

I would say this name the same way I would say [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anna[/name].

I’ve met a few Muslim guys named sofiane/sophiane I’ve never heard sofiana but if it’s related to sofiane then it seems weird with eve ([name]IMO[/name]) but it sounds fine.

I too have heard Sofiane as a boy’s name (So-FYAHN) but have also come across it as a girl’s name - i.e. Sofiane Sylve, the French ballet dancer. I think it’s a beautiful name on a man or a woman. If I didn’t know better, I would assume Sofiane was a girl’s name exclusively, but I think it works on anyone. Come to think of it, now I’m beginning to like it more than Sofiana…Hm… [name]Eva[/name] Sofiane. Has a nice ring to it.

I’ve only ever met a Sofina. She was about 5/6 and from an Islamic background.

I think it sounds a bit smushy, personally. [name]Sophie[/name]-[name]Anna[/name] would work better.

I’ve never met anyone with that name but there are tons of [name]Sofi[/name]/[name]Sophie[/name]'s and Sofias so considering she’d probably go by one of theose nicknames its not very unique.

It would be a middle name so it wouldn’t have a nickname.

I like the sound a lot and the nn’s are incredible, but I just can’t fully get on board with this one. It sounds made up to me, like you wanted to make the popular “sophie” names more interesting. Also, it’s a bit over the top for me too.

I agree that Sofiana sounds a bit like a smoosh name and sounds too over the top to me. [name]Eva[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] would be gorgeous though!

I have met a Sophina from Denmark and thought it was pretty.

Hello, you were wondering if there is a person with such name???Yes there is I am Greek from Piraeus and I think this name is unique it comes from two greek names [name]Sofia[/name] which means wisdom and [name]Anastasia[/name] which mean recarniation!!I hope you still like this name!!! And it it is prounounced as you read it so-fya-na.Good [name]Luck[/name]!!!

I think it is fine in the middle spot for sure. It’s a very pretty name. In front, it’s lovely but agree with all the reservations about similarities to more popular names. But in the middle you really shouldn’t worry in my opinion. Good luck!
