Considered [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] for my last one. [name_f]Love[/name_f] them as is!
They’re very musician names to me. I’d assume the parents were fans (Sonny & [name_f]Cher[/name_f], [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] [name_m]Osbourne[/name_m], [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] Marley)
I have a [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] (Santiago) so I’m biased haha. I can’t tell you if I would have considered [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] on its own. His formal name is after his dad, but I didn’t want to use it because I didnt like the potential nicknames, until my friend suggested [name_m]Sonny[/name_m], and a lightbulb went off in my head. I had never even thought about the name for a boy before (already loved it for a girl)
I do appreciate that he has a longer form to go by if he ever decides he wants something more formal. I personally only like [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] as a nn for other S- names (Santino or [name_m]Samson[/name_m] for example) but that’s just me.
I can’t think of any long forms of [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] that I would like, but these are also great names. honestly I do think they will age well on their own- they just have this fun, charming, breezy, almost artsy and 70’s vibes to them, they’re out there but also very recognizable and I think would stand the test of time!
I adore [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]! I know adults with both those names and they wear them without any problems. [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] especially can stand on its own, but I don’t see why [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] couldn’t too! If you’re not into the longer forms, just use them as they are, they’re lovely names!
[name_m]Sonny[/name_m] is not for me and it does feel a bit less substantial as a full name, but I also think it works!
I think names in this style will be par for the course in coming generations. [name_m]Even[/name_m] for an adult today, I think [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] aren’t too dissimilar to names like [name_m]Micky[/name_m], [name_m]Danny[/name_m] and [name_m]Tommy[/name_m]. Casual, friendly and a bit playful but still seen as regular names. [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] in particular strikes me as a bit old school and [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] feels like a slightly bolder choice.
[name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] feels somewhat different to me. It reminds me of [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] Stardust so it gives me stage name vibes. I met an adult [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] ten years ago and it felt off at the time. Perhaps [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] feels like it should be on someone who’s quirky, cool or charismatic and it felt incongruent on such an average person. The actual sounds of the name are uncommon as well, but with the diversity of names ever increasing I don’t think it will stand out in future decades.
I enjoy this style of name myself and I’m generally of the view that they don’t need a longer form. The charts show this style is becoming mainstream, especially in the UK,
so plenty of other parents also don’t think a long form is needed. I had [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] on my own list for our son but my husband wouldn’t consider it. [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] is currently ranked 41 in Australia while [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is ranked 22 so there will be lots of Sonny’s and likely some Ozzy’s around in the future. [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] probably doesn’t have broad enough appeal to become overly common but it will become a lot more familiar.
I prefer children go by the name they’re given. Simpler. Therefore, I don’t favor a longer form.
As far as aging, they sound quirky, musical, and fun while they’re young. Yet, they’re currently on trend so they’ll age fine alongside a sea of [name_f]Livie[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Elly[/name_f], [name_m]Arlo[/name_m], [name_m]Ollie[/name_m], etc. The fact that musicians [name_m]Sonny[/name_m], [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m], and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] did age helps, too
[name_m]Sonny[/name_m] is okay, but I prefer [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] to it.
[name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is my favourite. I’d probably use it for my own child of it ranked higher up my list.
[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] is neutral. I wouldn’t really use it since I associate it with [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] [name_m]Osbourne[/name_m]. Maybe as a nickname (eg; [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] nn Ozzy?)
I think they work as they are - a kid named them now would be growing up in an era of nickname-y names so
I like them all - [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] feels most well-established as a ‘full name’ and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] and [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] have playful but solid sounds.
I love [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]! I think names age with the person, so yes, they’ll age fine imo. I don’t think they need a long form!
I have an [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and I love his name so much. I get tons of compliments on it and it just fits him so perfectly. Such a little [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]. I’m pregnant again and am very strongly leaning towards [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]. Literally on here right now trying to figure out if it’s too out there haha.
Great names
I like them in this order🌲
[name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]
[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]
[name_m]Sonny[/name_m]
Although [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is my favorite by far. I have a huge love for [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] . [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] is great but prefer [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] for a girl
