[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I have a very short list of boy names that I am unsure of and would love some thoughts just on each name - no need to choose your favourite(s) just looking for all your thoughts and opinions; anything that comes to mind. I wont be offended, I am unsure of these names myself
I am looking to replace [name_m]Evan[/name_m] on my list due to a close family friend having just used the name! So, I am looking into other names to beable to replace that with. I am just not sure what feels right with my style.
Out of all your names I think [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] stands out the most from your list as different than the rest
All of your names I can picture at each stage (ie baby, toddler, kid, so on). [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] is the only one I picture as a grown man and mentally can’t picture on a baby. It definitely feels like a dad name compared to the rest
That being said I have seen that [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] is coming back in style. I know people are using it. At the rate it’s going it definitely could grow to fit with this style of names
For your side note, what about [name_m]Evander[/name_m]? You could use [name_m]Ander[/name_m] as a nickname if [name_m]Evan[/name_m] and Ev feel unusable as nicknames!
Brett — I do know men named Brett, but it’s hard for me to imagine calling a baby Brett (could just be me, also can’t imagine calling a baby Craig)
Declan — I like this name ; I think of preppy boys (not a bad thing)
Zane — I think this name is becoming more common, but a nice twist on boy z names and staying away from Zach
Tristan — I think a timeless name, I haven’t heard too many people with this name, but could seeing it get popular in the coming years
Trevor — I also don’t know too many boys with this name, kind of feels country
Kieran — absolutely love this for a boy. I only know one male in my life with this name and two girls. I think it gives off a feminine or unisex kind of name like Mackenzie; Lindsey; Blakely, etc.

[name_m]Brett[/name_m] → 70s / 80s frat boy vibes. I think this one would be more popular now (see [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] and Rhett) if it wasn’t already so well used previously.
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] → feels slightly dated to the 2010s to me, but not overly so. Maybe a little harsh-sounding? I do think it’s a great alternative for [name_m]Evan[/name_m]!
[name_m]Kieran[/name_m] → lovely!
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m] → feels quite 80s / 90s to me, but I don’t dislike it!
[name_m]Tristan[/name_m] → I like how much history it has, but still sounds quite modern.
[name_m]Brett[/name_m] & [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] are not my cup of tea, they just feel rather dated and a little bit frat boy-ish to me?
I love [name_m]Kieran[/name_m]! I think it’s a handsome choice with a distinct sharp sound, even with the otherwise on-trend feel.
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] is also a solid choice, although none of the nicknames do anything for me. It has similar vibes to [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] in my opinion, but I just like [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] more!
[name_m]Tristan[/name_m] is pleasant, I like the gentler sound of it! I think it’s my second favourite on your list.
[name_m]Zane[/name_m] is very cool, probably the trendiest on the list with that -n ending and cool Z initial, but not in a bad way! It’s NMS but definitely a fun choice.
I like Kieran and Tristan the best, then Zane and Declan (though not sure about nicknames for Declan). Brett is a 1980s-90s baby name for jocks in Australia, mostly and specifically cricketers, and so it has a particular image to me. Trevor us a boomer name here and can be used a joke, “ya Trevor!” so again I can’t quite decouple it from its associations. They’re both a little harsh sounding for me but I can see the boyishness fun of Brett.
Brett - feels a bit dated but it has a nice sound. I prefer Rhett or Everett. I have a good friend with this name but it doesn’t feel fresh or timeless enough for me to want to use it personally.
Declan - love it. Love the meaning “full of goodness” and Declan feels perfectly rugged but also cuddly. I would happily use Declan myself.
Kieran - like it in theory to honor my mom but I like other Irish names more (especially Lorcan, Declan, and Desmond). I also prefer the Ciaran spelling.
Trevor - also feels a little dated but I find him attractive in general.
ETA: missed Tristan and Zane, my internet is acting wonky lol. Tristan I really like but he’s lost some luster with how popular he is. Love Zane and he was on my list for years. He isn’t anymore but I’m still very fond of him.
Declan is probably my favorite, then Zane, Tristan, Trevor, Kieran, Brett.
