Opinions on this nickname?

Go or GoGo as a nickname for [name_m]Viggo[/name_m].

For some reason, I had a dream the other night where I called my future son (who my S/O and I decided to name [name_m]Viggo[/name_m]) Go and GoGo and I can’t get it out of my head. My S/O seems to really dislike it.

What are your thoughts? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

“Go” seems a bit weird as it just sounds like a command, but I think “GoGo” is really cute! It works well as like a cutesy, familial nickname!

Go or GoGo would seem silly used when he is beyond a child or in a public setting, but just using it at home when he is little is likely okay if S/O changes his mind (I believe both parents should love their child’s name).

Thank you both! I think it’s definitely not a name that could be wearable beyond baby/toddler years and only if my S/O comes around, but I think maybe in my mind I’ll still call him “GoGo” even if it’s never his nickname in real life

It’s very cute! Probably a nickname he’ll outgrow when he becomes school age, but for a young child GoGo is darling. (My cousin [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] went by Go Go and around 6 or 7 wanted to go by her full name instead.)

Anything goes at home as a nickname. Not in public though. I wouldn’t say it should be off the table as an affectionate name between the family, but I wouldn’t have friends/neighbors/teachers call him that.

As a home nn, i think it could totally work!!

GoGo is adorable, but Go does sound like a command to me.

I think either works as a nickname, but really I think you’ll quickly find that one of them (or a different nn entirely!) just comes naturally and you won’t even have to think about it

Ditto this.

Like others have said, Go sounds like a command. GoGo instantly makes me think of Go-go dancing. Not a fan of either option.

I love knowing that there was a real child nicknamed GoGo! That makes me feel better. And I agree completely. I think by 6 or 7, it makes sense the nickname would end but I’m okay with that!

Most definitely! I think it would be inappropriate for school or non-family members! I really dislike when names I consider private ([name_f]Sissy[/name_f], [name_m]Bubba[/name_m], MooMoo, [name_u]Angel[/name_u] [name_u]Baby[/name_u], [name_u]Boo[/name_u] [name_u]Boo[/name_u], [name_u]Boo[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], Peanut, Pumpkin, Munchkin, etc.) are used outside the home. My mom called me sissy one time when I was in middle school in front of all my friends and I was MORTIFIED. I will do my best to not do the same to my child!
