Opinions on welsh girl names?

I live in wales so I’m looking for a welsh name but it needs to be easy to pronounce because not all my family are welsh speaking.

Which do you like the most?

[name_f]Eluned[/name_f] (ee-lyn-ed)
Heulwen (hiel-wen )
Eilir (ay-leer) - this is traditionally a boys name but it means butterfly so I like it for a girl

Suggestions would be very welcome, might call her [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and have a welsh name as her middle name? But [name_f]Erin[/name_f] feels too popular?

She’ll be a summer baby so maybe Haf?

My favorite is [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]! Pretty and unique but not unknown!
Heulwen sounds a little bit too much like Hell-wen to me, and I dislike using boys’ names on girls. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t see the point of it since there are so many lovely female names out there, and while the meaning “butterfly” could be seen as feminine it’s not like most people would know that that’s the meaning
To me [name_f]Erin[/name_f] is dated more than popular, the youngest [name_f]Erin[/name_f] I know is 16

I really like Welsh names! My very favorite is [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], I’d use it it a heartbeat, and I also like [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] from your list. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] is lovely too, and not too popular at all. What about [name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]?

I would not use Eilir since it’s a male name.

I love [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]!

Absolutely love [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]! I have a second cousin who is [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] and always thought it was beautiful.

I’ve also always liked [name_u]Seren[/name_u] and [name_f]Carys[/name_f], but I think they are very popular in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] itself, so maybe too popular for you?

[name_f]Eluned[/name_f] is beautiful! I also love Heulwen and Haf - they’re both so golden and sunny.

I adore Welsh names, particularly the old classics such as:

[name_f]Angharad[/name_f]
Gwenllian / Gwennan / [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwladys[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleri[/name_f]
Nest
[name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f]

But some more recent Welsh names are gorgeous too:

Awen
Eirlys
Lilwen
[name_f]Blodwen[/name_f]
Rhosyn
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]

The Welsh forms of English names are also worth looking into ([name_f]Catrin[/name_f], [name_f]Marged[/name_f], etc.).

Good luck!

[name_f]Eluned[/name_f] is one of my all time favourites <3 So gorgeous!

I’m also very sweet on Ffion, Eleri, Angharad, Anwen, Arianwen, Olwen, Arianrhod, Carys, Eira, Lleucu, Llio and Tesni.
Welsh names are so intriguing, and although I could never correctly pronounce Lleucu, a surprising amount of them are very wearable and sweet.

Not too keen on Erin, it’s a little proper and boring to me.
Looking into it, I found several sources telling me Eilir is a unisex name? If true, I think it’s an awesome alternative! Maybe Tesni with her ‘warmth of the sun’ meaning would also be appropriate for a summer baby? Tesni sort of embodies the warmth of her meaning for me. Tesni Eilir would be super summery, but the flow of Tesni Eluned is a little better. I’d go with one of those for a summer child. ^^
