first post here so i dont really know what im doing, haha. but im trying to get opinions on my list of names for my baby girl, but im a bit scared to ask people irl, so i figured this would be the best place to go. im not 100% in love with any of the names i have so far, so im also open to suggestions!
im 17 and this is my only kid, so i don’t have any siblings names to pair with, but i do want to give her a double first name. the only thing is im a little scared it’ll be a risky choice, because i also have a double first name (Katie Beth) and i don’t want people to think it’s dumb to give my daughter one too.
but i’m thinking of the following:
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f]
Kathee [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
There’s no super deep meaning to them other than i like how they sound and how they’re spelled, which i feel like i need some kind of connection to a name to use it, but i just like these ones a lot. i like double names with a shorter first name and longer second, so these all have a nice ring to me. and i think they all sound nice with my name, but in a way that’s not too similar - except Kathee [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], because Kathee sounds a lot like [name_f]Katie[/name_f], which is the first half of my name, and I don’t want people thinking i named her after myself. and im nervous that nobody will take my name ideas seriously since i’m a teen mom. but that’s only an issue for now, i guess.
So yeah, i’d love to hear opinions and possibly suggestions for other double names if anyone has any! oh, and there’s no dad for her in the picture, so i’m the sole decision maker here, in case that matters. thanks, and apologies if i did anything wrong. im new here, lol.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]!
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] are darling! Great choices!
I love double first names!
You have a lovely list!
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is charming - classic and cute - [name_f]Molly[/name_f] Bee/Molly [name_f]Bea[/name_f] would be sweet
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] is sharp but sleek and stylish
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] is balanced and strong. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] would be cute too, or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ‘Lucy Bee’
Kathee [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is sweet, but if you don’t want people thinking she’s named after you, I’d avoid this
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is classic but fresh and charming
A couple of ideas based on yours:
[name_u]Mina[/name_u] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Lula[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassie[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
Congratulations!
Firstly naming can be such a daunting experience especially when you’re the only person deciding I’m so glad that you’ve found our community as hopefully we can help you narrow down your options
Molly Beatrice ~ personally I’ve never been a massive fan of Molly I just hear ‘moles’ which isn’t attractive for me. However Beatrice is gorgeous very classic. A name that’s similar to Molly could be Polly she has the same classic vintage vibe but just feels prettier.
Maia Leanne ~ Love Maia gorgeous name really bright and sunny. Leanne is the name of a lovely friend of mine so she does make me smile but isn’t a favourite.
I like the idea of Maia Beatrice. What do you think of this idea?
Lucy Brianne ~ Lucy is definitely a nameberry favourite I can see why you like her however similar to Molly I’ve never been a massive fan. Brianne feels a little 90s so has a nostalgic vibe.
Kathee Lucille ~ firstly men name their babies after themselves all the time there is nothing wrong with a mother naming a baby after themselves!!! Kathee is sweet. Not a fan of Lucille.
Thea Louise ~ my absolute favourite from your list she’s just gorgeous. Thea is bright, whimsical, has a beautiful meaning ‘goddess’ and has this fairy imagery attached. Louise is just lovely such a down to earth friendly name. Thea Louise is fab.
A few suggestions
Mia Florence
Maisie Sienna
Cassia Vivienne
Callie Lillian
Ivy Tamsin
Hope this helps
I second [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]!
Other ideas:
[name_u]Rae[/name_u] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Naya[/name_f] [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
I think in regard to your desire to have the name be a double-barrel first name (and feel more intuitive/obvious as one), that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] fits the bill best. I feel like more common (often called ‘filler middle’) type names work best as the second in a double barrel (eg. [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]Anne[/name_u] etc) and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is one of those type names. While your other name combos are nice too, they do feel to me to be a little more separate, as in first and middle. I also think that single syllables tend to work best as the second in a double barrel name too (as in your Beth), so think [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. You do say you prefer longer names in second though, so perhaps you could consider adding a third name as a middle as well, like [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], for example.
Also, It’s not dumb at all to want to give your little one a double barrel name just like her [name_f]Mama[/name_f] - it’s an honour, a namesake, a clear but also subtle link to you. It’s actually quite sweet.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is great and my favourite! But I also like [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u].

[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and calling her [name_f]Molly[/name_f] Bee/Bea is just darling
I’m partial to [name_f]Molly[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is lovely
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] are my favorites from your list! I love the idea of using [name_f]Molly[/name_f] B/Bee or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] B/Bee as a nickname- if you’re interested in that
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is also super fun!

You have a beautiful list. I absolutely love double first names, and I’m so glad you’re here on Nameberry to get some help picking! Names are overwhelming to me, who loves them, some days—there are just so many names out there.
I love the idea that your girl could have a second name starting with B, like yours does, or a second name that’s a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], like yours is. A sweet, subtle connection to her caring mama! If you’re into those ideas, perhaps…

From your list, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is my favorite. That’s just beautiful. I’m such a fan!
Best luck, and welcome to Nameberry. I hope that should you like to you return to the community here and find comfort in it!
In order from favorite to least.
1.). [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is gorgeous! I love both names separately and it’s nice together. I also like the idea of a “sometimes-nickname” of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
2.) [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] isn’t the style I normally like, but I do think it has a pretty flow. I like this spelling of [name_f]Maia[/name_f], which I don’t see often.
3.). [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is also not my type of name, but it goes very well together, with a pretty flow and rhythm. [name_f]My[/name_f] only concern with this one would be people of a certain era glancing quickly and thinking [name_f]Thelma[/name_f] and [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. But younger people probably wouldn’t get the reference.
4.). [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] is another one that isn’t my style. I don’t know why I can’t get on the [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] train, but something about it always bothers me. And [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] is a bit dated to me. But the flow is nice. I feel like they are different names stylistically that somehow manage to work together, which is always cool.
5.). [name_f]Kathy[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is just not my style. I find both names dated and I don’t like the flow.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - cute, classic, full of life, I think it’s beautiful.
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] - I might be bias because it’s my moms name. I think it’s lovely.
Kathee [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] - I’ve never seen Kathee spelled like that before and I love it, it’s a simple name made spunky.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] - another classic, I think it’s beautiful.
you have an amazing list.
some other suggestions.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]

Aw, I don’t think it is silly at all! Your options all flow really nicely! Other suggestions:
