Opinions please - name combination

Hello,

This is my first post, after lurking around for a little while now!

My husband and I have found out we are having a boy, but our tastes are so different that we are finding it increasingly difficult to come up with a name combination that we both love (or at least both like!!)

What do you think of the combination, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Duke[/name_m].

Is it to regal or something (if that makes sense) It is one of the names that i do like and my husband hasn’t completely vetod!

All opinions are so appreciated!

Go for it!

I see nothing wrong with it. All you need is one name that you both can feel is your child. If you can agree on it, go for it. I have a firm belief that every couple can find on the edge of what you’d call their individual style, a meeting point with their partners. Like when you draw two circles and they intersect at one tiny little point… That spot is your child’s name. Find often with couples who are very different like this that if each side makes a list not only of names but of sounds they like. First letters they find preferable, endings they like, lengths of names they like, and a list of what they dislike as well, then lay the lists side by side. To me [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Duke[/name_m] sounds like a cowboy from the American old west. Like he’s tough but a good guy. Its also somehow manages to be a very clean cut name that’s acceptable all over and almost everyone likes [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. It flows well and has a good sound. Nothing irritating about it. This is a great example of a full name that can fit into multiple categories cleanly because of the timelessness of [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and the different characteristics of [name_m]Duke[/name_m]. If this doesn’t end up working out try doing what I said. See perhaps if you can find something you don’t expect by looking for things that you both like. For example say you like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but he doesn’t want a religious name, he likes the ending sound and he would like something shorter and you love [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] but don’t want to just use that… [name_m]Gable[/name_m] is a great name for you then. Hopefully that makes sense. Like you love [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] and he Likes [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or maybe [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]… [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] maybe? Congrats on the baby

What about [name_m]Henrik[/name_m]? NN can be [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but it is a little more spunky which you seem to like, looking at the others on your list. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] doesn’t appeal to me so much (but I’m a weirdo) but I like it in the middle spot when its an honour name.

What about something like [name_m]Henrik[/name_m] [name_m]Milo[/name_m]?

I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Duke[/name_m] is a nice name. It has a nice balance of classic and unexpected. I especially like a more classic fn with a more unique middle, go for it!

I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m]! I can’t get behind [name_m]Duke[/name_m]. It will forever remind me of the [name_m]Bush[/name_m]'s Baked Beans dog. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Dane[/name_u]

I actually love that combo! I’m usually not a fan of [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Duke[/name_m] has a good ring to it.
It does sound strong and regal, but I think that’s why I like it!
