I just started watching [name_f]Season[/name_f] 2 and I noticed some really interesting names. So I thought I would share my favorites. (The only spoiler in this post the name of one new character.)
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] - main character; I like the name, but I sense it will soon rise in popularity
[name_f]Claudette[/name_f] - from last season; this name sounds like a very elegant queen to me
[name_f]Galina[/name_f] - [name_u]Red[/name_u]'s legal name; very close to galena (a mineral whose name I’ve always loved)
[name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] - stately
[name_f]Dayanara[/name_f] - this name sounds like a princess and I love it so much; probably my favorite out of all of them
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f] - I can’t see this coming back in style, but something about it is appealing to me
Poussey - I would never use it, but this name absolutely rocks imo
[name_u]Brook[/name_u] - I prefer this spelling over the ever-popular [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
Aleida - [name_f]Dayanara[/name_f]'s mom who also has an awesome name
Flaca - clunky but cool; also seems fierce
[name_f]Maritza[/name_f] - a refreshing spin on [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]
Taslitz - I just like this one, but I don’t know why
[name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] - I’ve never heard this on a woman, but I quite like it
[name_m]Larry[/name_m] - I hate this character, but the name is clunky yet cool
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] - I’ve always loved this name; it seems firm and dependable
[name_m]Cesar[/name_m] - can’t express in words how much I love this name
I think I like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] & [name_f]Claudette[/name_f] the most.
Also:
[name_u]Alex[/name_u] - for a girl is great but I don’t think I would use it.
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] - I know it’s the last name for the character from the show, but I also like it for a 1st name.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - very popular, would use it… but I guess I mentioned it b/c I like the character.
I’m pretty sure [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] is a spin on the character’s last name (probably [name_u]James[/name_u]?). Taslitz is also a last name.
[name_f]Dayanara[/name_f] is probably my favourite from your list. I had never heard it before the show.

I’m a big fan of the show! I like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] but I have a hard time picturing it on a grown woman. I really like [name_f]Lorna[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f].
[name_m]John[/name_m], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], [name_f]Tasha[/name_f], [name_f]Dayanara[/name_f], [name_u]Brook[/name_u], and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] are some of my favorite names from OITNB.
I love [name_f]Lorna[/name_f] as a name!

I like how such an awful name like [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] sounds so good as [name_f]Tricia[/name_f]
I love Poussey, like really in love with her, but yeah, the name isn’t something you can actually use

I think [name_f]Dayanara[/name_f] and [name_f]Maritza[/name_f] are my favourites but they’re kickass people so I think I just associate their names with them. I also like Poussey (that is one kickass name lol), [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] (as in [name_u]Alex[/name_u] Vause), but she’s my favourite character so maybe that’s why.
I love this show so. freaking. much. I finished season 3 a looong time ago (like, two days after it came out), and since then I’ve just been thinking about the show nonstop. I’m so f*cking obsessed, it’s actually a real problem.
But anyway, let’s talk about names. Whenever I fall in love with a show, what always happens is I also fall in love with the names of my favorite characters and the names of the actors/actresses (in this case mostly actresses) who play them. I’ve fallen hardest for the name [name_u]Alex[/name_u]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] because [name_u]Alex[/name_u] Vause is my favorite character on the show (though I’m pretty sure her name is just [name_u]Alex[/name_u], not short for anything). The name [name_u]Piper[/name_u] used to annoy me, but thanks to Chapman I now love it. Same thing with [name_f]Laura[/name_f] (as in [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Prepon, the beautiful actress who plays [name_u]Alex[/name_u]) – I used to think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] was kind of a mom name, but now I love it.
