Orchid?

Hello berries

I found this name and was wondering if there was any bad association with it.

I can’t think of any! I think of the flower

I think it is so rare there are no associations with it? I like it.

The flower association is strong, but overall it’s a pretty name

This isn’t a bad association. But in child development theory there is a phenomenon called the [name_u]Dandelion[/name_u] child vs the [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] child. Basically, [name_u]Dandelion[/name_u] children are the ones who can grow up in any environment, even the worst of them, and still thrive. [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] children need a precise amount of “water” and “sunlight” in order to thrive. Water and sunlight can mean attention, affection, encouragement, etc.

This isn’t a well-known theory. However, it’s what I think of when I hear/see the word orchid.

Orchid is such an underrated flower name I have it on my list as a middle :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I pair it with [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], so happy that someone else it’s mentioning it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I don’t think there’s any strong negative associations with it, but when said out loud I can’t help think of the word ‘orca’ which isn’t a terrible association but could lead to teasing

I love the flower! [name_f]My[/name_f] problem is that with my non rhotic (don’t pronounce the r) pronunciation, it sounds a bit like ‘awkward’ not a lot but enough that I wouldn’t personally choose it.

I wouldnt say negative, but I suppose Dr [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] (from the game Cluedo) does come to mind!
I think its a very pretty name, definitely an underrated flower.

In my country it’s the equivalent of “Always”, the sanitary pad company (same company, different name), but I don’t think that would be an issue for you.

I only think of the flower

Orchid is sweet and fresh

I like it! The only association I’m aware of is the flower.

In medical terms, orchid refers to testicles.

Well in my language it’s the word for testicles.

I agree with the previous two posters… “Orchidectomy” means removal of the testicles. That’s the only negative association I know of regarding [name_f]Orchid[/name_f].

This is what I found…

Etymology : The origin of the word Orchid . The name comes from the Ancient Greek ὄρχις (órkhis), literally meaning “testicle“, because of the shape of the root. … Orchid was introduced in 1845 by [name_m]John[/name_m] Lindley in School Botany, due to an incorrect attempt to extract the Latin stem (orchis) from Orchidaceae

I can’t think of any either? [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] is lovely—she used to be my middle name for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].

I think it’s nice!
