Orlando?

Hello Berries! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is very into Italian names (his is very Italian) and there are very few that don’t seem too over the top for me. We do both like [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], but I’m not sure if it’s practical? What do you think?

Also, what kind of nickname possibilities can you imagine for a little [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]? I love the idea of [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] but I don’t know if that’s too much of a stretch??

Thank you so much for any input!!!

If you can escape the [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] associations, I think it’s a solid choice!

As far as nicknames, I would go with [name_u]Or[/name_u] , [name_m]Lando[/name_m], Ando, or [name_m]Orlo[/name_m].

[name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] seems a bit far for me tbh but that’s just my opinion.

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] is adorable and so is [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It may be bit of a stretch but nicknames can be flexible. [name_u]Or[/name_u] you could do a Z middle name like [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] to get to [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u]

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] is cool, I would consider using it. To do [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] I would definitely use at least one z sound in the name, but I am pretty rigid with nns haha.
[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_u]Zen[/name_u]
[name_u]Blaise[/name_u]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] has some grandeur about it but it’s familiar, easy to spell and say, generally a good choice and very wearable in my opinion!
I like [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] as a nn!
Some other nn ideas:
Ando
[name_u]Andy[/name_u]
Landy
[name_f]Lo[/name_f]

[name_f]Lo[/name_f]
[name_f]Lolo[/name_f]

[name_f]Bloom[/name_f]!

That’s definitely my immediate association…
I also think of the [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] Swinton film & the novel it’s based on, so the name has mostly literary / cinematic vibes.

It’s a big name with a lot of panache… hard to go under-the-radar with this one!

The first nickname that comes to mind is [name_f]Orly[/name_f], followed by [name_u]Lanny[/name_u].
[name_m]Lando[/name_m] could be a nice one, too (with [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars associations, though).

I do think you could use [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u], which is cute! It’s no more of a stretch than [name_u]Gary[/name_u] → Gaz, for example.

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] is cool, it reminds me of the city before [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] as a nickname, though it does feel a bit stretchy. I will agree with some other berry suggestions of incorporating a Z sound into the middle name, which would help the [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u] sounds make more sense!
