Ostara & Osiris

I don’t have kids yet (TTC next year) and really only want one child… But in the event that I have 2, a boy and a girl, I’m curious about thoughts on this sibset.

I’m currently crushing on these 2 names!

Ostara (pronounced like O-star-ah) is a female name associated with a Wiccan and Old High [name_m]German[/name_m] holiday & goddess - [name_f]Spring[/name_f], fertility, life - nn [name_f]Star[/name_f]

Osiris (pronounced like O-[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]) is a male name from an Egyptian god of the underworld, associated with truth-seeking and humanity trying to be good to one another - nn [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] and [name_m]Oz[/name_m]

Disclaimer - There is wayyy more to both of these names origin, this is just a very brief summary.

I have a love/hate relationship with similarly named sibsets. On one hand, it can be cute with sibling names all start with the same letter. On the other hand, I dislike when sibling names sound too similar (for example, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]).

Are they too similar? Especially with both starting with “Os”

Or would their nicknames set them apart enough? [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] & [name_f]Star[/name_f] - and when he’s a bit older, probably [name_m]Oz[/name_m] & [name_f]Star[/name_f]

Also, if I were to have more than one, they would be very far apart in age… 6-12 years apart… (and I know I could very well have picked very different names by then  )

If you don’t plan on using their name so often and just their nickname that it should be okay! I do think their spelling would be enough difficulty but that personally shouldn’t deter your decision since the spelling isn’t crazy just no longer modern! I love the names you decided on btw! Props to you, personally I enjoy when siblings share first initials!

Ostara & [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] are fabulous together. Two of my favorite under rated names
