So my fiancee and I were playing around with [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], which has been near the bottom of our list for awhile. But we’ve been mulling it over and we both really like it. I also really like [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Osias[/name_m], but my fiancee is not sure about [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and he likes just plain [name_m]Sy[/name_m] better than [name_m]Osias[/name_m], which is fine by me as I love [name_m]Sy[/name_m].

What do you think of the name [name_m]Oswin[/name_m]? What middle names would you pair with it? Our last name starts with a J. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think OJ would be a problem? We wouldn’t call him that…probably we’d call him [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m]. But do you think the initials of OJ would be a problem?

I can’t see OJ being a huge problem as long as you have a middle name in there and that middle initial used on any monogrammed backpacks or whatever it is these days that kids are sticking their initials on.

I like [name_m]Oswin[/name_m]. Sounds kinda Welsh, which is a plus for me. I tried and failed to get DH on board with [name_m]Osric[/name_m], so if you both like it, go for it!

I’m not great at choosing middle names out of thin air, so I’ll leave that to someone else.

I have never seen [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] before. I really like it. As pp mentioned, it sounds Welsh or similar to many names that are stylish. Yet [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] is quite unique and has a great meaning.

I think [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] is an AMAZING choice for a boy! It hits all the wonderful trends (O, Z, even a “win”) without being a trendy name. [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] is cute, too.

ETA: I forgot to mention, it does make me think of the character in [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who. Which is fine – it’s the middle name of a female character, a “good guy” who is fairly popular among fans.

I’ve never actually seen Dr. Who…but I’ve heard of it. I think because it’s a middle name of a girl, the reference shouldn’t be a problem…
