[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce the name [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]? I have heard so many different ways!
I pronounce it as OT-il-ee.
I say O-till-ee. With a short O like in [name_u]Orange[/name_u].
I really think that it should be pronounced OAT-illy. Saying AWE-tilly in a relaxed way sounds too much like the word “oddly”.
I say it ot-ill-ee like ot as in cot or bottle.
[name_m]Ott[/name_m]-til-ee
oh-tee-lee
Aw-till-ee
[name_f]ODE[/name_f]-uh-lee
Oh-till-EE
[name_m]Ott[/name_m] (like cot or bottle as someone said - ill- ee
I’ve never heard it said any other way, but I suppose I don’t hear it said all that much anyway.
I’ve never seen this name before.
That said, if I were a teacher in this child’s classroom, I’d guess “Oh-[name_m]TILL[/name_m]-ee” like “Oh, [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].”
I pronounce it OT-il-ee.
I say it with the O as in cot and bottle, not a long O. rhymes with ‘naughtily’ heh
I have heard this pronounced many ways such as:
Oh-teel-ya
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-till-ee
Oh-till-ee
On and on.
It’s quite a nice name.
I say it like OUGHT-ill-ee. I’ve never heard it out loud, so that’s just where I’ve always gone with it. I’ve heard the proper [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation is oh-[name_m]TEEL[/name_m]-ee-yah, though.
aw- teal- ee- yah
I say Ot-il-ee, stressing the last syllable.
O - tilly
(o as in hot)
oh-till-ee
