Otto!

Hello berries!

[name_f][/name_f]

A groundbreaking discovery has been made: a boys’ name I actually kinda like!

[name_f][/name_f]

How do you feel about [name_m]Otto[/name_m]? Would it age well? Does it sound too much like auto or otter? Too palindrome-y?

[name_f][/name_f]

Thanks

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m]! [name_m]Gentle[/name_m] but tough, bright but serious, stylish but well-established.

I think it would age well and I like that it’s a palindrome!

It doesn’t sound like Auto in my accent but I know that varies

[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is fabulous! It’s very fashionable here in the UK (without being too popular) and I have met several young ones. I like the proximity to otter (my favourite animal) and I don’t see the “auto” thing as being too bad. [name_m]The[/name_m] fact that it’s a palindrome is a big plus for me!

Overall, I find it cool, striking, strong and suitable for all ages.

I actually really like [name_m]Otto[/name_m]! It feels classic and strong, and I think it would age really well from a baby to an adult. I personally don’t think the auto/otter association is a big deal, and the palindrome aspect just makes it a bit more interesting. It’s short, distinctive, and familiar without being overused.

I like [name_m]Otto[/name_m]! To me it feels sweet, a touch old-fashioned in the currently-popular way like similar [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Otis[/name_m].

He’s sweet, distinguished, has a [name_f]British[/name_f] hipster flair and feels playful. I think [name_m]Otto[/name_m] ages well and feels in keeping with current naming trends with that o ending. [name_f]My[/name_f] Grandad’s wife grandchild is [name_m]Otto[/name_m] I think it’s a great choice.

I like [name_m]Otto[/name_m] as well! It’s one of those names that’s sweet and adorable on a baby but grows up nicely. It does sound similar to auto, but I can’t really think of many contexts where that would be a problem and I think the palindrome thing actually adds to the appeal for me. Mostly, I think of [name_m]Otto[/name_m] as a kind of quirky-cool name that’s easy to spell and pronounce and makes me think of a clever, playful boy.

Although they don’t sound identical in my dialect, [name_m]Otto[/name_m] does remind me of auto, and “odd”, and I guess otter too. None of these make him unusable, I think those aside it is a quirky, breezy name, and I like palindromes so I find that to be a plus!

[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is a lovely name! [name_f][/name_f] I know a little one with this name, he’s super cute.

[name_f]My[/name_f] sister almost used it for her oldest—for her it sounded too much like auto to me, since she has a surname that’s also a title (think like [name_m]Queen[/name_m] or Lord), so it sounded kind of cliche, but in general I think it’s fine! [name_f][/name_f] I like palindrome names, so that wouldn’t bother me either.

There are a few O names I like more (Oscar, [name_m]Orion[/name_m], Odin), but it took me a while to see his appeal because of a character in a novel I read years ago. [name_f][/name_f] I want to love him, but I’m still a little hung up on that character (who was actually a great guy, he worked for the Jewish Underground during WWII, but he was also in the Gestapo and he used it for a cover to be able to help the underground, so it took several novels in the series to discover he was actually a good guy, and by then it’d done its damage I suppose). [name_f][/name_f] But it is a really lovely name and I’m happy for you that you found a boys name you like!

All the best!

I really like [name_m]Otto[/name_m]! It seems like a fun and friendly yet solid choice. I think it would age well and can definitely imagine it on an adult. It doesn’t sound like ‘auto’ in my accent and I think the ‘otter’ thing is cute. I think the fact that it’s a palindrome is cool.

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. Simple and handsome, and I think it’ll age well. It’s also a good mix of recognisable, but not popular.
