Newbie here! (and very excited to jump into things) My fiancé and I are expecting our first child in early [name_u]June[/name_u] and we’re now realizing that we have a serious girl name issue.
Together, we have 4 favorite names: [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. All are fairly popular (may not so much [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] though?) and all are names we can’t use My fiancé’s nieces are named [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and my best friend has a daughter named [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f]. So, as you can see, our favorites won’t work. The real problem is we just can’t agree on any other names!
Any names that you can think of that are similar in style or feel (but not sound or look) to our favorites but are completely different names? We’re holding out on a nickname since we’re thinking of using a name of a family member or close friend but not completely sold on the idea yet. We do have a boy name, which is [name_m]Landon[/name_m], if that helps and the baby’s last name is similar in sound to “bowling”.

[name_f]Adalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] all read as monikers with rich history that are also appeasing to the modern ear. Here are some names in a similar vein for inspiration purposes:
The first thing that comes to mind is [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]. It’s kind of a combination of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] without being too similar to either.
I like: [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
He has an awkward association with [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is too old sounding for him, and he just isn’t sure about [name_f]Ella[/name_f] (it “lacks” something “special”)
He likes: [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
I still think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Ava[/name_f], especially since we see all three girls a lot and I’ve always gotten a snobby feel from [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] (probably since I’ve worked with snotty girls with those names)
We both like: [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (we both [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] “[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]” but are a little iffy on [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]) and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (and I think I could maybe get him on board with [name_f]Lila[/name_f])
I like: [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f], and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
He thinks [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] sound too old, [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] sounds too over the top, he doesn’t like the look of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]

I still think [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] and [name_f]Avigail[/name_f] are too close to [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f] is hard for me to say in general and looks really close to [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s name, and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] sounds weird to me
Sadly, we don’t agree on any I do not want any names that look or sound similar to any of our favorites (as sad as that makes me). We see [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], and [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] a lot and I don’t want any confusion. I’m OK with names starting with those letters, but nothing with the same two letters or similar sounds
Great choices! I found it funny when [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] was one of your choices because it’s my name even funnier when you said [name_m]Landon[/name_m] because that’s my brothers name! Any way here are some names I suggest:

I’m not fond of the look or sound of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and I have a good friend named [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] so it would complicate things for me
We both like: [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
He likes “[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]” but isn’t sure about it as a full name however neither of us like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], he doesn’t like [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] and I don’t like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (which pretty much leaves us with nothing hahaha!)
I like: [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f]
He thinks [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is too over the top and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] reminds him of a dog

I don’t like the B sound in [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] (but I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]) and [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] just doesn’t sound pretty to me

He still isn’t sure about [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a full name though (and we’re pretty much out of options for fuller names)
Also [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is one of my daughters names and beside [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] it’s the name that gets the most compliments! And I have heard of people who just simply named their girl [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

Would you be open to just using [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]? I think it’s cute, and is the least common (I would think) of all the ‘em’ names. What about [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] as a long form? If [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is too popular for his taste have you thought about [name_f]Isla[/name_f], it has a similar softly feminine feel and has some of the same phonetic sounds
There is [name_f]Emelia[/name_f] which can have [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] for a nickname… [name_f]Emily[/name_f] of course and [name_f]Emma[/name_f]… [name_u]Ember[/name_u] if you think you’ll have a fiery little sassy girl… [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] not overly girly, but I know of a girl [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]… If you think you’ll have a REALLY sassy girl… [name_f]Empress[/name_f]
So I think you have a more classic taste in names and your fiance likes newer hip names not too crazy or old sounding so i hope i have found some names that please both parties.
