They are both lovely, but I prefer [name]Ossian[/name].
I can’t choose!
I love [name]Tyne[/name], it’s so darn cute and I love the river and the north. I love [name]Tyne[/name] Glass together, it sounds so amazing! And most of all, I love how you’ve fought for [name]Tyne[/name]. However, [name]Ossian[/name] has the faerie connection, who can resist that? [name]Ossian[/name] Glass, that’s a lot of s’s, but it sounds really nice too. And it does have that familiar sound blade mentioned (and only 7 Ossians last year!), and it is really dashing.
I’ll mull it over and get back to you!
My only concern is that the spelling ossian compared oisin looks alot like the welsh name osian, which is pronounced osh-an.
I personally think [name]Oisin[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name] is great
[name]Just[/name] food for thought - I have never seen the name [name]Ossian[/name] (or [name]Oisin[/name]) before and would not automatically know how to pronounce it. I would know how to pronounce [name]Tyne[/name]. However, after someone meets your son once, they would likely remember how to pronounce the name going forward.
Oh dear, it’s difficult. [name]Tyne[/name] is modern and handsome, and I love it with your gentlemanly middle names.
I do slightly prefer the sound of [name]Ossian[/name] Glass- so gentle and oceanic. [name]Tyne[/name] Glass without the middles has an icy, clinky, well… glassy sound. Which is great in a way. But then again I feel [name]Tyne[/name] Glass could be a brand of fine glassware. [name]Tyne[/name] Glass and [name]Sterling[/name] [name]Silver[/name]. If [name]Tyne[/name] Glass were a character in a novel, I think he’d be tall and lanky, with nearly translucent skin and fine nimble fingers.
Changing Oisín to [name]Ossian[/name] does nothing for the pronunciation issue, [name]IMO[/name]. I might assume it was pronounced “[name]AH[/name]-see-uhn” or “OSH-yuhn.”
I think both spellings are nice though, and I wouldn’t be scared off by pronunciation worries either way. [name]Just[/name] go with whichever you like more. [name]Ossian[/name] with that spelling makes me think of bones, which is a big plus in my book (love bones.) I think of words like osseous, ossify, and OSSUARY! Had no idea about the Gaelic poet, but now I’m curious.
Thanks all for your input
As for the spelling, its not really about the pronounciation issue - its more that [name]Oisin[/name] immediately makes me think of Hoi Sin sauce! I love me some crispy duck pancakes but I don’t want be reminded of them whenever I see my childs name written down!
Plus if its going to be mis-pronounced - I prefer the oss-ian mispronounciation to the oi-sin one!!
I voted [name]Tyne[/name]. I think it’s a brilliant name, and more than that, I think it is your favourite of the two. But if you like [name]Ossian[/name] better, you should go with that!
Thanks [name]Ottilie[/name] I think I’m crushing on [name]Ossian[/name] at the moment but in my head, I still call him [name]Tyne[/name]…And I know OH much prefers it!
Plus, I came up with a fantasy sib-set - I want two more children and I’d love them to be another boy and then a girl - If I got my way, they would be [name]Tyne[/name], [name]Ossian[/name] and [name]Tierney[/name]
I SO want it to work out that way - and it doesn’t work in any other order lol
Oh that would be the cutest sib set ever! and in that order, of course…
I voted [name]Tyne[/name], but now that I know how to pronounce [name]Ossian[/name] I love that too. Either way you’ve got a brilliant name, and a name leftover in case you have a second boy!
[name]Glad[/name] you like, [name]Ottilie[/name]!
Thanks [name]Gigi[/name]!! I love them both…fingers crossed for a second boy! lol Is it bad that finding a name I love makes me already want to start planning the next pregnancy!? lol
Not bad! I want ten children so I can use all my names. I swear, my last kid will have more names than [name]Uma[/name] [name]Thurman[/name]'s.
Lol! I might have to do that too!
[name]Do[/name] you know what colour your bump is yet [name]Ottilie[/name]? Or are you staying Team Yellow?
Stupid Boyfriend (do I have to stop call him that as he’s nearly 40?) doesn’t want to know, and since this is the only thing he CAN control, I said fine. It sort of limits things… but I have bought some girlie stuff, if it’s a boy I’ll hide it away for the next one!
Lol aww! Well its nice you’re letting him have that! I probably would not have been so kind
[name]How[/name] exciting to have the surprise at the end! [name]Do[/name] you feel like its a girl? I actually bought a girls baby gym before the scan - silly me, now they won’t take it back coz I lost the receipt. lol.
And nah! My guy is turning 40 next year and I still call him my boyfriend…I think its nice that we let them keep the illusion of youth going
Hah, and you’re not married either, awesome (feel a little lonely among all the married people)! [name]Just[/name] curious, how old are you?
I don’t know. It’s probably a boy, but i sort of think it’s a girl. Wishful thinking maybe… my sister and my boyfriend’s brothers have all boys. I haven’t had a lot of morning sickness, but my bump is very much in front, not on the sides, I haven’t gained a lot of weight… on the symptoms it’s 50/50 which is annoying.
Ha, nope! And I know what you mean. I’m not sure when the big wedding frenzy was but I seem to have missed out on it! I’m just turned 30. [name]How[/name] about you?
Hmm, my morning sickness has been AWFUL - I spent every day from week 6-16 cuddled up to the toilet, and even from week 16 I’ve still been sick about 2-3 times a week - even now at 23 weeks! So I tend to believe the opposite of the old wives tale - I think lots of morning sickness=boy! My bump is also really high, which is meant to be a girl - and the heart beat was in the girl range too!
My family is ALL girls - this is the first boy in 28 years! So you never know - I think from your symptoms that its very possible you might be having a girl! I have a feeling lol.
I’m turning 30 in two months… that’s so funny! And my family hasn’t had a girl in 29 years, I was the last one… I’m so sorry about your morning sickness, must be awful! I only had a little, and in the evening.
Aww wow! I definitely think you’re going to have the first girl
Yeah it is NOT fun. I knew I should have married [name]Prince[/name] [name]William[/name], then I’d be sitting pretty in hospital on a drip!
