Outhip the Hipsters!

[name]Susan[/name], I just thought of [name]Zelda[/name]. What do you think? (I added some things to my above comment to you.)

Okay I have a few more uber hip ones:

[name]Dorothy[/name] nn [name]Dot[/name]
[name]Agatha[/name] nn [name]Aggie[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Freja[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Carlyle[/name]
[name]Alden[/name]
[name]Otto[/name]
[name]Thor[/name]
Macaran nn [name]Mac[/name]

Woo-hoo! This thread has inspired me to finally de-lurk.

Here are some of my most off-the-beaten path name loves. Or those that some would consider to be “out there”, at least.

[name]Alberta[/name]
[name]Beulah[/name]
[name]Beverly[/name]
[name]Desiree[/name]
[name]Gloria[/name]
[name]Hildegard[/name]
[name]Keziah[/name]
[name]Muriel[/name]
[name]Pansy[/name]
[name]Petula[/name]
Pleasance
[name]Priscilla[/name]
[name]Thomasina[/name]

[name]Baptiste[/name]
[name]Clancy[/name]
[name]Enoch[/name]
[name]Faustus[/name]
[name]Godfrey[/name]
[name]Oswald[/name]
[name]Reynard[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name] (in full, an underused classic)

  • [name]Jennifer[/name]

For now I will have to second (or third?) [name]Bryon[/name] and for a girl [name]Nell[/name]. I love both of these name but because of my “new” last name I cannot use [name]Nell[/name] :frowning: So freash and simple though!

[name]RALPH[/name]!

Also, my idea to outhip the hipsters is to not go back so far. I think when [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Sheen[/name] named his son [name]Bob[/name], that might have been an honest attempt to mine in a different area.

Also:
[name]DORIS[/name].

[name]Ralph[/name] and [name]Doris[/name].

I like zard’s suggestion of [name]Nell[/name]!
[name]Susan[/name], I’m laughing at your description of hipsters–more or less you described my siblings, several friends and many classmates and acquaintances. The thing about most who get categorized as hipsters is that they’re inclined to bristle at the designation. “I don’t believe in labels!” [name]Don[/name]‘t get me wrong, I agree that your description is pretty characteristic of what we have in mind but I just wonder at the whole concept sometimes, especially since I don’t know many skinny hipsters keen on having children soon. I guess that’s why I’m inclined to be broad about the hipster naming thing; when more of today’s outrageous names have trickled their way into the yupsters’ territory and most of today’s hipsters decide to settle down half a decade or more from now, will they be considering the same names as the current crop of hipsters with children?

[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Rex[/name]
[name]Isack[/name]
[name]Nash[/name]

Meriweather
Aven
[name]Delia[/name]

[name]Edgar[/name]
[name]Ilene[/name]
[name]Waldo[/name]
[name]Sherman[/name]

I’m impressed by so many of the additions here: [name]Zelda[/name], [name]Waldo[/name], [name]Thomasina[/name], [name]Alden[/name], [name]Ralph[/name]…

A couple more for your consideration:
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Hero[/name]

[name]Della[/name]
[name]Etta[/name]
[name]Lana[/name]

I’ve been really into [name]Odette[/name] lately!

Kramer

[name]Gatsby[/name]!

[name]Cosmo[/name] Kramer lol Seinfeld.

Oh, I love the [name]Thomasina[/name] suggestion, because it’s the source of [name]Tamsin[/name]!

I actually know a [name]Thomasina[/name]. Still yucky! NOT HIP! She is nice enough, but it’s not fit for others yet.

I love the Disney movie “[name]Thomasina[/name]”. The song in it is so great. [name]Love[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name] and [name]Tamasin[/name], as you all know.

I love that movie, [name]Susan[/name]!

Viatrix – retro [name]Beatrix[/name]
