Owl as a middle name?

I know this sounds a bit weird but i really like Owl as a middle name for a boy. I am slightly obsessed with owls, hence my username, so I think that it’s a nice namesake. However I’m not normally a huge fan of word names so it it taking it too far? Are there any other names with the same meaning? Should I add a second middle to balance it? Obviously I would never use it for a first name, it’s too strange and has too much teasing potential. I really like [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] Owl…

I would stray from [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] Owl because I just personally think it’s too heavy on vowel sounds. So either keep Owl, replace [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u], or keep [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] and replace Owl. If you go the second route, perhaps think of all the words that describe owls or the characteristics of owls that you like (such as that they are a symbol of wisdom, are peaceful creatures but great hunters), and pick names that mean or are derived from those words. Or, if you wanted to name an owl, what would you call it? Something like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], perhaps? There are a lot of great ones becoming popular these days.

@becsgolf You could be right about [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] Owl, I might try and add a second middle. Any ideas? Otherwise what first names work with Owl?
I was thinking Tyto might be an option (barn owl’s latin name, Tyto [name_f]Alba[/name_f]) but I still really like owl. I was looking at other latin names but they are all things like Noctua…

The only owl related name I know is [name_f]Nascha[/name_f], which is said to be a native american name (I have no idea if this is true or not), and is listed everywhere as female. So I don’t know if it’ll work for a boy.

I really like Owl as a middle! I have a friend who is obsessed with owls too, and my absolute favourite band/artist of all time is Owl City. I don’t really have many suggestions. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was maybe [name_f]Emblyn[/name_f] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] Owl, or just [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] Owl. Or [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] instead of [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. Perhaps [name_f]Emblyn[/name_f] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] Owl?

Yes! Owl would be a really cool middle on a boy or girl! It is no different than [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or [name_m]Bear[/name_m].

Owl sounds really cute as a middle name. I like it.

I think it’s adorable.

I can see it working like [name_m]Fox[/name_m], though it’s a bit awkward to say so you’d definitely need to fit it to the right first name. Something with strong consonant sounds that’s not heavy on W’s or L’s.

[name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Owl sounds cool
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] Owl also sounds nice

I agree with more consonant sounds, but I am afraid to offer too many suggestions because I don’t know many that are stylistically like [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u]. That is a very unique name! These are some I though of with that “-en” sound at the end, in case that is the style that drew you to [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u].
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] Owl
[name_u]Carson[/name_u] Owl
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] Owl
Juden Owl
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] Owl
[name_m]Caden[/name_m] Owl

I love Owl and I think it would work with any first!

I adore Owl as a middle. I think that [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] Owl sounds lovely, depending upon your last name. The connotations of wisdom, as well as the connection to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Pooh’s Owl makes it a winner to me.

@myosotis I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] Owl, but maybe there are too many L’s? [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] Owl on it’s own is great, though.
@becsgolf I really like Juden Owl, also a very unique name. The other suggestions flow well with Owl but that is my favourite
@nooshi I think I would have to add a second middle with my last name which is one syllable if I was using [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u] Owl.
Thanks for the input everyone, I’m glad you don’t think it’s too weird to use!
