[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] has been on my list for a while, moving between a maybe, a definite, a possible, a maybe not, but now it’s back and I’m loving it!

So, a few questions (as ever, feel free to only answer the ones you wish to!):

  1. How do you pronounce [name_m]Ozias[/name_m]? I’ve seen it pronounced in several different ways and I’m interested to see which is more intuitive or popular!

  1. What middle name would you pair with it?

  2. Would your suggestion change if it was to be pronounced ‘Oh-zye-us’ (zye rhyming with eye)

  3. What middle name would you pair with it that has the same vibe as ‘Ozias Midwinter’? This is the name of a character in [name_u]Wilkie[/name_u] Collins’s novel Armadale and I think it’s one of the reasons I find [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] hard to pair, because [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] Midwinter is so magical and hard to compete with!

  2. I’d pair it with something more traditional like [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], [name_u]John[/name_u], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] etc
  3. does not apply to me since that’s already how I pronounce it
  4. this one I’m not sure about as I’m not super familiar with that style of names, sorry!

And for what it’s worth, I think [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] is really cool!

[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] is nice - maybe thinking [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]?

Ozias Basil.

I’d assume Ozias was pronounced that way - unless the capital O is meant to indicate that it’s the first syllable that’s emphasized.

Ozias Carnelian?

oh-ZYE-us / aw-ZYE-us (although I do prefer AW-zee-us (with the first part like Ozzy) but I’m not sure if that’s a pronunciation people use?)

The audiobook I was listening to had multiple narrators and some pronounced it as oz-ee-us/aw-zee-us so I’m guessing it can be :person_shrugging:
