Paddington?

I recently have found my Paddington books and began to think about Paddington as a name for a baby. I’m quite liking it for the middle name spot…WDYT?

Paddington [name]Bear[/name] isn’t a bad character at all, but I find the name a bit over the top and pretentious sounding. I know he was named after the [name]London[/name] train station, which is my second thought when hearing the name. Paddington strikes me as being quite an upper-class sounding surname as well, though, which is why I find it a bit pretentious.

It could work as a middle name. It’s a little too well associated with the bear and a little too pretentious-sounding for a first name, I think.

Meh, I agree, it’s too associated with the bear. I think [name]Patrick[/name] nn [name]Paddy[/name] is cute, though.

To me it’s all bear.

Too much of a reach.

It’s all bear to me. Rather pretentious, too.

Honestly, I would have to try really hard not to laugh if I met a kid named Paddington. I can’t think of a single guy I know who would enjoy being named Paddington.

Agree with this. It’s about the bear and also as a Londoner - about Paddington station. Great name for a dog though

It would make a really cute pet name! I can also see it in the middle spot with a strong-sounding first name, as some other people have said.

Too bear/British to me. Sounds either too cutesy or too pretentious

Paddington, [name]Remington[/name], Carrington, Pretentiousington.

I quite like this for a middle or a first name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] really like the bear association. I think it’s pretty great.

Haha when my brother was born (I was 2 and a half at the time), I gave my parents a shortlist for his name and Paddington was at the top (the other options were [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] and [name_m]Mowgli[/name_m]). I think they humoured me a bit and I was so convinced he was going to be called Paddington. There’s a reason people don’t usually let 2 year olds name their siblings, though, because clearly they just choose characters from their story books. I still kind of think my brother could have totally pulled it off, but my parents apparently didn’t agree.

I don’t think it’s even usable as as mn.
