Parent and child repeated initials?...

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the flow of a child’s name with the parents names and repeated initials is something that matters a lot?

E.g if the parents name was [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and she called her daughter [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or if the parents name was [name_f]Kara[/name_f] and called her daughter [name_f]Clea[/name_f]?
Would it be something that would bother you?

Not at all! My mom and I share similar sounding names and it’s never been a problem. I think it’s silly to not go with a name you love just because your child would have repeated initials in the family. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are similar in style and that long I sound, but for me it’s not a problem at all.

If someone mixes you up, just fall back on the nicknames if you have them or really, just be cool about it. I’ve been mistakenly called [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] all my life - I have no one close with this name and my name is completely different… so go figure.

No. Not at all. I don’t think most people would notice something like that, and worrying about it is potentially restricting in name choice.

No not at all. I think it’s more about the love for a name versus if the initials are repeated from mom or dad to child. I preferably don’t want to repeat initials, but if it happens I don’t mind.

For me though, I don’t want siblings to repeat initials. I remember growing up everything of mine was labeled with the first letter of my name all over the house. For my future children I don’t want first letter initials to repeat, so I’d never name my children [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Also I’m not a fan of every sibling sharing the same initial, like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].
