Okay, lately I have become obsessed with the nickname Peggy. It isn’t an honor name or anything, I just love how sweet and simple it is and it has some of the common sounds that popular names like Lily and Millie have, which makes me feel it doesn’t sound too out of place.
I don’t think I would ever want to use it alone, so the Margaret names (Margaret, Marguerite, Margereta, etc) have been growing on me.
Do you like the name Peggy? What would you use as a full name? What are some middle names you would use?
Let me know, I feel like it might be a name that most people think should be left in the past.
(My love of the name came from Agent Carter, not Peggy Schuyler, however she is pretty cool too)
I actually adore [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]! I think she’s really sweet and spunky in a fun retro way. It helps that I know a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] my age (so twenty), which gives it a more youthful vibe to me,
I also love the [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] names and I think they’re a lovely way to get to [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]! Just-Margaret would be my choice, or maybe [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Margarita[/name_f]. The [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] I know is a [name_f]Panagiota[/name_f] but that’s definitely less usable outside of Greece I think it could also work for Pe- names like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]!
in all seriousness, i like peggy too! i agree with you that it would fit in with other names that are more popular. i like it as a nickname for margaret and wouldn’t use it as a full name.
middles… maybe…
Thank you this is so helpful!
I have never (surprisingly) thought of using it as a nickname for names that start with P! I love that instead of little [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] being [name_u]Penny[/name_u] she could be [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]!
Thank you so much!!!
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is my favorite name on your list, but they are all so beautiful! This is so helpful!
[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is clunky cute and charming! I think I’d use it as a full name, maybe as a nickname for [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] (maybe like, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Tegwen[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_u]Kerrigan[/name_u] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] Garnet)
For middles, I’d consider: [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is a great name: strong, classic, & a bit feisty!
I would lean toward the traditional naming pattern (full name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], nn Peggy). [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] goes well with so many middles… here’s a random handful:
She’s lovely and old-fashioned, dated certainly but not in a way that I’d say it would be odd or too much for a modern child. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my favorite long form of this name. I think [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] has a clever, cucumber-cool feeling.
I also love that you reference [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] as your love’s origin; she is so fantastic!! She has, in the past several years, helped me to enjoy this name very much.
[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is quite endearing as a stand alone name or as a nickname, I do like the pp suggestion of [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] as a full name as well as [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I really like it (Agent [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is a big reason why I like it too)! It has such cute vintage flair. I like the [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] names but I actually have it on my list as a nickname for [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a daughter called [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]!
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend’s daughter is M@rgaret-R0se known exclusively as P3ggy-R0se and whenever I hear her name it makes me smile. I think [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is fun with a clunky cool feel. Definitely fits in with other vintage names which are popular such [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite name is [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]. I love Margaret!! [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is very classic, regal and sweet. I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
Thank you so much!
Yes, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] has been my top name for nn [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] , however is it weird that those are the names of queen [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] II and her sister [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]?
These are beautiful names! It’s funny, multiple of your mn suggestions are names I had in mind for honor names!
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] especially
I can’t use [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] as my grandmother’s name was [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and I don’t think she would like an honor name that is literally her name, however I am starting to like stand alone [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] more!
