Is this way too out there? I’d use the nn [name_m]Penn[/name_m]. [name_m]Penn[/name_m] just doesn’t seem like a real name and I’ve fallen head over heels for Pendragon.
Should I add it to the guilty pleasure list or is it usable? Honest opinions please!
Pendragon [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] actually sounds pretty elegant to me! Lol I’ve always had a thing for [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m]. I’m glad another person thinks Pendragon is cute.
I don’t care for it. Sorry! The nickname [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is very handsome (and I think it could stand on its own) buuuuut I have a hard time taking a name with the word dragon in it seriously. It would be a neat middle name. Otherwise, I’d leave it on the guilty pleasure list.
I was looking for honest opinions! not like I’m pregnant anyways lol. Thanks for the input, I just can’t get over how short [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is. I like it but not as a full name. I’ve always been one for over the top names with many syllables.
I think it’s more of a whimsical middle name option than a first. I do love [name_m]Penn[/name_m] though. Although Pendragon [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] does sound pretty amazing! I guess it would take a cirtain type if kid / man to pull the name off which is why I’d stick it in middle spot personally.
You could do a P first name with [name_m]Ben[/name_m] /[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] / [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] in the middle to get [name_m]Penn[/name_m].
Phillip Benedict
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierre[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] (actually that could get you [name_m]Penn[/name_m] all on its own)
I really like Pendragon. I have it on my list for a middle. That said, I do think the nickname [name_m]Penn[/name_m] makes it pretty wearable as a first, even if your taste isn’t all that out there.
Looking at your signature Pendragon is a big leap from most of your favorite. - Nothing wrong with that, just an observation.
I think that a sib-set with [name_u]Orion[/name_u] would be do-able but, considering the rest of your list would use it as a middle.
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] Pendragon or [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] Pendragon appeal to me most.
But if you want Pendragon as a fn I’d go with Pendragon [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] LN. Esp if you go with nn [name_m]Penn[/name_m].
I think people are probably going to hear [name_m]Penn[/name_m] Dragon 2MN LN.
Lexiem, that’s actually something I hadn’t thought about. But, I haven’t updated my siggy in a while but you’re right, it is a lot stronger & more out there than most of my list. I think Pendragon & [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] would make a wonderful sibset especially with the nicknames [name_m]Penn[/name_m] & [name_m]Hawk[/name_m]. I also like [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] a lot, but only with the nickname Panda. It would be weird to have a Panda and a [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] lol!
You should have Panda, [name_m]Hawk[/name_m], and Dragon. Coolest sibset ever.
But actually, I’m on the fence about Pendragon. It is very awesome, and [name_m]Penn[/name_m] makes it kinda wearable, but because it’s basically two words, I could see people being very confused by it. Plus, isn’t it the name of a bank or something in the UK? I’m iffy about it as a first, but agree that it would be a fantastic middle.
love it! i think it’s usable. it IS probably “out there” for some people, but we need more names like that and people who actually wear them to get that to change. i’d love to meet a little Pendragon!
I love it!! But I love it for a middle. I think in the first, while awesome, it would be hard for a lot of future employers to take him seriously. I am also against the idea that he could just write [name_m]Penn[/name_m] on his resume. I don’t think a child should have to hide their names to get a job. So yea. I think it’s an incredibly cool middle name (and it’s on my own middle name list since it has Arthurian connections) or as a quirky nickname for a [name_u]Pen[/name_u]- name.
Here’s some [name_u]Pen[/name_u]- names:
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
Japendra – “lord of reciters”
Merripen – This name is very cool because it means both life and death
Penda – one who is dearly loved
Roupen – a quiet little boy
But yeah, I think it’s an awesome middle name. It can work with a ‘normal’ name or an unusual one. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] Pendragon, [name_m]William[/name_m] Pendragon, [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] Pendragon, [name_m]Demetrius[/name_m] Pendragon, [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] Pendragon, etc. Or if you want to get nerdy, Uther Pendragon
Also, for what it’s worth, I think Penn is fine as a full name. I think it works fine like with Penn and Teller (though I’ll be honest and say Idk if that’s his full name). I like it as a nickname also for a GP name on my list for boys – Penrose.
I think [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is fine by itself. The immediate association I have with Pendragon is the Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale - one of my personal favorites, but still - it’s a little…I don’t know. I don’t like the name itself. It’s really out there. In the series, it’s the main character’s last name. I think it’s a weird name. There’s nothing wrong with [name_m]Penn[/name_m], in my opinion.
