Penny

Hello, opinions and thoughts on the name [name_u]Penny[/name_u]? And [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a full name, not a nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f](sorry I just don’t see the appeal of the name of it.) Would it age well, and is it too out-dated? And middle name suggestions would be nice!

I don’t love it, but I actually can see it ageing really well.

I think it’s cute, and I don’t think it’s outdated. It feels quite lively and bright if that makes any sense. Personally, I like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] but not with [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a nickname (prefer [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]).
I’ve seen [name_u]Penny[/name_u] used as a nickname for [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] somewhere on the forums if that appeals to you more. But I think it works on its own xx

My aunt is named [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but all people have ever known her as is [name_u]Penny[/name_u]. I don’t think I’ve ever heard her use [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] once in my life. It has aged quite well for her as she is in her 70s.

I don’t typically use nicknames as full names, but I see no problem with doing so!

We have 2 relatives named [name_u]Penny[/name_u] just [name_u]Penny[/name_u] not short for anything . I think it works !!

I’d prefer it short for something else, but it’s nice. I agree - it would age well.

PENNY IS WONDERFUL! It would age very well in my opinion, and I actually prefer it as a stand-alone name.

Penny is actually my mother’s name! She is in her late 40s now, and I suppose I’ve seen her carry the name for the last 20-some years, so I definitely think it can work on an adult!

It’s actually not my favorite name, and seemed very dated to me growing up (probably because I associated it with my mom), but I can see how it could start to seem fresh again!

Penny is very sweet. It reminds me of [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] (both the song and the character). It ages well, I think, it actually reminds me of somebody’s mom for some reason.

I think [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is cute. Of the nickname type names, I prefer a few others over [name_u]Penny[/name_u], but I think [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is nice too. Because it is a bit of a dated name (not necessarily too dated), I think it could age pretty well. I actually think a lot of the nickname names age well.

As far as middle names go, I like [name_u]Penny[/name_u] with one syllable names the most, I think, but I tried to choose some that were a lot of different styles as I’m not sure what you like.

I love [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a full name!
I don’t see why it wouldn’t age well. There are so many babies with nickname-names in the UK, so it’s not like it’s anything out of the ordinary! I think it’s spunky, vintage or maybe even retro and so cute!
It doesn’t strike me as dated, like some others said, since [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is so popular nowadays and the most common nickname for it is [name_u]Penny[/name_u]. Plus there are plenty of young Pennies on TV. There are also young Disney characters with the name! The little girl from Bolt and the little girl from the Rescuers, though that’s an older movie.
