So my name is Lucie, which is the French variation of the name. My family isn’t French btw. My dad preferred Lucy because it’s the most common spelling, my mom preferred Lucie because it can fit entirely between the lines of penmanship paper. While people often spell my name wrong, I really like my name! It’s unique, and it has a well-established history (unlike Madisyn and Jordyn). People with alternate spellings, how do you feel about your names?
[name_f]Lucie[/name_f] is a pretty name! I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as well but I love your mom’s reasoning – words do look so nice when they fit within penmanship lines! I don’t have an alternatively-spelled name myself, but my name does have multiple well-known spellings and I’m happy with the way mine is spelled.
Also, on another note, it would be great if you could refrain from referring to names as “trashy”. Typically an explanation (“I don’t like the Ys in these spellings”) is kinder and doesn’t imply people are somehow lesser for using them.

I think I could be friends with your mom because I have real concerns about some cursive letters! Lol Though no problem with Y haha
