I’ve recently been absolutely adoring [name_u]Percy[/name_u]. However, although I know it can stand just fine on its own, I’d prefer to keep it as a nickname. I have two [name_u]Percy[/name_u] names at the moment, [name_m]Percival[/name_m] and [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], and I’m wondering what you think of them/what else you have up your sleeves.
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] ~ pros:
feels like a jewel, stately but not portentous, sounds like a whisper, I just really love the vibe cons:
has a reasonably snobbish image in the UK, my mum absolutely hates it
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] ~ pros:
mythological connection which means a lot, percy jackson was my childhood, less snobby, more fantasy, my mum hates it less cons:
the mythological figure kind of sucked, I don’t like the sound as much
To be fair, my chances of having a [name_u]Percy[/name_u] are basically nothing given how sold I am on [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] for a girl, but it’s the thought that counts.
Thoughts? Feelings? Middle names? Any other forms that [name_u]Percy[/name_u] could take?
Which do you prefer? Which do you prefer for me?
Reach into the centre of your soul for anything even remotely [name_u]Percy[/name_u]-shaped, and let me know!
I love [name_u]Percy[/name_u]! [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] was also my childhood so I definitely have a big soft sport for [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], but I also love [name_m]Percival[/name_m] because of the [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] connection! I think that if going with [name_u]Percy[/name_u] I would pair with a more traditional middle name but whatever works best for you is probably fine.
More full names could be…
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] (getting the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] from the ending PER)
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]?
I like both of them pretty equally but I think I prefer [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] best for you!
I think I slightly prefer Perseus, Percival is a bit snobby to me but Perseus sounds really cool! I’ve been thinking of Phineas lately, maybe that could have nn Percy?
I think with your other names I love Perseus! Perseus and Aurembiax, SWOON!
Plus, Percy is so so cute!
Percival reminds me of a knights name. It’s not pretentious per say, certainly different, mostly uncommon. I kind of put it in the same name vibe category as [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], [name_u]Griffin[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] etc.
Perseus has epic Greek mythological resonance. I really like it. I think [name_u]Percy[/name_u] can be stand alone too.
Also the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] books were great in my opinion.
The name of my late beloved long-lived orange tabby who I named bc he was persimmon colored.
I love this name ([name_u]Perry[/name_u] too).
I prefer [name_u]Percy[/name_u] as a standalone, but understand the desire for a longer name.
Percival sounds persnickety to me (especially b/c of an [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_u]Christie[/name_u] character), but it is a cool name.
Perseus is a super cool word and name, but a bit much for many of us to wear. Still, it sounds more epic than persnickety (though I would not think about what your mother likes as it will be your baby).
There is also [name_u]Persia[/name_u], which I like for a boy. How could any male named [name_u]Persia[/name_u] not be gorgeous?
Instead of [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], I love [name_f]Persis[/name_f] for a girl.
LOVE [name_u]Percy[/name_u]! When [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] was in my top 5, I was 100% going to nn her Perci/Percy! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you dislike [name_u]Percy[/name_u] for a girl nn? I think it’s super cute and a WIN WIN
I love [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Percy[/name_u] and I prefer that one for you!
I love [name_m]Percival[/name_m] too, but with no nn. [name_m]Percival[/name_m] is too amazing to be shortened in my opinion.
Perseus and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] are a definite theme. I prefer [name_m]Percival[/name_m] but if you want a theme [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] is a good choice.
Other Options:
[name_m]Pierre[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierson[/name_m]
Purslane (a flower)
Pursell
I really like [name_u]Percy[/name_u]! I also quite like [name_m]Percival[/name_m] (maybe a little more) despite it feeling slightly snobby. It has a cool sound and a mythological connection that doesn’t feel overpowering.[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] is not my favorite for a variety of reasons, but it’s a fine name!
I like [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] more, and I think it fits better with the names on your UC. I think that it will connect to [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], rather than the mythological figure for most of people (even though [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] was named for the person in the myths). I love the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] books, so I think using the name [name_m]Perseus[/name_m]/Percy would be awesome. You could also use it as a more tomboyish nickname for [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], but it would probably be easier to spell it Persy in that context.
I love the name [name_u]Percy[/name_u], as a stand-alone. [name_m]Percival[/name_m] is so handsome, but quite pretentious! I don’t know if I’m posh enough to give [name_m]Percival[/name_m] to my baby. I don’t like [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] that much, but I love the astronomical connection, don’t think I’m cool enough to use it as a first, maybe a middle spot. I also like [name_u]Percy[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Piers[/name_m], which I love, but I don’t think it sounds natural. Absolutely adore @sophia_elena 's suggestion of [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]! Maybe [name_m]Casper[/name_m]? With your ace name sets (ooh the enchanting vibes it gives), I think that [name_m]Percival[/name_m] fits best, but [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] is nice as well!
xx
I 100% prefer [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], and [name_u]Percy[/name_u] is such a cute nickname! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] too.
