I recently found out a woman I’ve known as [name_u]Peri[/name_u] for almost 10 years’s first name is actually [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], which isn’t even anywhere near truly unisex. But I actually think it is quite a girly name, and it suits her very well. So what do you guys think about [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] on a girl?
No it absolutely doesn’t work for me! I like nn perry for a girl though!
I can see it working on a girl, but I still much prefer it on a boy.
No. Try again. [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] perhaps?
I have it on my boy middle name list and I can’t see it on a girl. I like [name_u]Perry[/name_u] for for both genders but [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Perdita[/name_f], [name_f]Persis[/name_f] or Prospera for a girl would be much better. [name_f]My[/name_f] guilty pleasure is Whisper nn [name_u]Perry[/name_u].
No, absolutely not.
Dislike. I love [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] and I have it on my boy list. It’s all boy for me.
No, definitely not, sorry. I love it on a boy though.
If [name_u]Peri[/name_u]/[name_f]Perrie[/name_f] were a girl, I would assume that it’s a nickname for [name_f]Perdita[/name_f] or [name_f]Peridot[/name_f].
A peregrine is a type of falcon. Animal names seem absolutely unisex to me, they could truly go either way. So I am in the minority here, but I really like it for a girl or a boy. I like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a nickname for it (playing on the nickname [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] for [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] Took from LOTR.) [name_f]Rina[/name_f] could be a nickname for it, too.
I prefer it on a boy with nn [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] but I see no reason why it couldn’t work on a girl. I know several young ladies with the nn [name_u]Perry[/name_u]/[name_f]Perri[/name_f].
To get to [name_f]Perri[/name_f], I’d go with [name_f]Perrine[/name_f], [name_f]Perrette[/name_f], [name_f]Pernelle[/name_f], [name_f]Pernille[/name_f], or [name_f]Pierrette[/name_f]. All girl names, but with the same [name_m]French[/name_m], not fluffy, sleek feel.
I love [name_u]Perry[/name_u]/[name_u]Peri[/name_u]/[name_f]Perri[/name_f] on a girl.
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] strikes me as being a very masculine name.
It won’t go over well on these forums at all, but I’ve known girls named [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] before as well and I think it works. The name is uncommon on either gender. In 2012 there were 6 boys named [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] born in the U.K, 6 boys born in the U.S, and 7 girls with the name born in the U.S. I think the name will stay uncommon, and I’d imagine that most people who aren’t name nerds will just see the name as unusual rather than particularly masculine or feminine. The fact that most bird names tend to go feminine, like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_f]Lark[/name_f], probably helps as well.
I like [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] ! It’s unusual yet known. Suggests a beautiful green color and a gem stone. Beautiful soft sound. Prob. [name_m]French[/name_m].
I don’t see why not. The sound leans more masculine and peregrines aren’t exactly pretty but I do like the name for a girl.
The actress Cree [name_f]Summer[/name_f] has a daughter named [name_u]Hero[/name_u] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
I could see [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] on a girl. I could also see [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] or [name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on a boy. Most nature names feel fairly unisex to me.
As a middle name, sure. But personally I find [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] very masculine.
