Hello! This is my first post here, but it seems like everyone gives such helpful suggestions, so I’m excited to be here!
My husband and I are working on baby names, and we want to have a solid 4 names (2 boy and 2 girl). So far, we have our two boy names and one girl name. We’ve got:
The middle names are all family names, and the first names are original to us/our families and are just names that we really liked. For our second girl name, we are having trouble coming up with a first name! We know that we want [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as the middle name. Our real dilemma is that we aren’t fans of names with the ‘ah’ sound at the end (think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], etc), and with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] all having the ‘ee/ie’ sound at the end, we’re trying to avoid that as well. Taking those two sounds out of the equation really removes a lot of girl names.
So, what are your suggestions for girl names that don’t end in ‘ah’ or ‘ee’ sounds that pair well with [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and the other sibling names? Thanks!
Edited to add: we also aren’t super fond of super traditional or extremely common names, so names like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Brittany[/name_f], etc aren’t on our radar. As the post title says… We are definitely being picky!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was my first thought. Avoids the endings while still being feminine, and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is pretty, plus fits your sibset well.
Some names we have liked (but that haven’t wow’d us for various reasons) are [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (doesn’t go great with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]… hence the anti- ‘ie/ee’ sound preference), [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Afton[/name_f], [name_u]Adley[/name_u], and [name_f]Lindy[/name_f]. As you can see, we kind of have a type, it’s just a type that doesn’t fit super well with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f]. What a struggle!
You are probably going to want to strangle me for this but I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is an outlier in the set and is throwing you off. [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] are very spunky , slightly preppy , a little bit modern and unisex but [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is very sweet and soft and vintage. Some of your other girls choices like [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] , [name_u]Adley[/name_u] and [name_f]Afton[/name_f] are the same style as [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]. You also have names like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and if your boys names were [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I’d tell you to swing that way - but they’re not. So I’m going to give you some suggestions based of your boys lists but they may not match [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
If you want to keep [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] I’d probably go with [name_f]Greer[/name_f] or [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and I also think [name_u]Finley[/name_u] & [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] , [name_u]Reese[/name_u] & [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] or [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] would go great.
are my favourites since they give me a similar soft, feminine, vintage feel like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] does. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] also give me a slightly trendier vibe, more in line with your boys names. Good luck!
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (if you aren’t using all four at once does it really matter that there are two E names?)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
I wouldn’t worry too much about how your children’s names sound as a set!
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Juno[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] above. I also think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] sounds lovely.
