. Let me explain why:
[name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] was a [name_u]Christian[/name_u] martyr in Carthage in the second century AD. I read about her in school and fell in love with her bravery and strength. She could have listened to her father by sacrificing to their gods, but stuck to her faith and died because of it.
Pertie and [name_f]Pet[/name_f] are my favorite nicknames for [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f], but Iād love feedback, honest opinions and some middle name ideas if I could!

My only reference for [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] is the martyr. I would expect a [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] to come from a very religious, (probably though not necessarily) Catholic family. Thatās my first impression. Itās an interesting name with a strong sound.

Perpetua is a fun name, although I donāt personally like the connection to the martyr. I think itās a bit over the top as a first name but the right person could definitely pull it off. I like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] as a nickname!

I remember bringing home an old dusty copy of [name_m]Butler[/name_m]ās Lives of the Saints from my old Orthodox Churchā¦ I would sit at home and read the Saints for each day. When I got to Sts [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] & [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] I was enthralled by the story and surprised by the amount written about two women in the second century. The image of the cows killing them as they embraced is poignant in my mind.
I love the lyrical flow of [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f]. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] could be a nice nickname, or maybe one of my fave Italian names, [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. Sancta Nomina lists some nicknames: [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], Tua, [name_f]Pippi[/name_f]
I adore virtue names and [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] reminds me of eternity, neverending love and constance.

I like both the name and the association. I used to know a [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]! I agree that [name_f]Petra[/name_f] would be a cute nickname.
This. I come from a very Catholic familyā so much so that I have a young relative named ĆloĆæsĆ®Ć¼s and another named ThĆømĆ¢s AqĆ¼ĆÆÅaÅ as a first and middle. I am not Catholic myself, or even [name_u]Christian[/name_u], but I am religious and still connect many saint names very much to religion.
Probably because of my Catholic family and their habit of using saint names, I can see this name being used, but not without a nickname ([name_f]Petra[/name_f] is my personal favorite, or maybe even [name_u]Peri[/name_u]). But honestly? Iām not personally a fan. It just feels a bit heavy and dated to me.
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] as an alternative, but I may be biased as Iāve loved that name for years, even outside of it being a saint name.

The name seems to fit where it came from - a deeply religious association. I donāt care for this name, and I personally wouldnāt give a nickname of āpetā to someone - it could be construed as maybe a little demeaning, think āteacherās petā or āpet peeveā, or animal. I also think of any potential pitfalls from school bullies with a name and I think [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] could be turned into āperpetually annoyingā or āperpetually whinyā or any other bad trait you can think of that might follow. Sorry to be negative, but just some honest impressions.

I LOVE [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f]! Especially because of that [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f]āIāve always found her story so inspiring, and would love to use [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] as a middle name, maybe. Iām not sure Iām gutsy enough to use it up front. I am a big fan of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f], but Iām not sure Iād use it over my [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].
