Perseus?

I love, love, love it. Is it usable today? Our DS is [name]Orion[/name] [name]Michael[/name], we are currently expecting baby #2 (won’t know gender for a few weeks) and our girl name is [name]Alice[/name] [name]Persephone[/name]. [name]Perseus[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]? Would we be able to ignore the nn [name]Percy[/name]?

I think it’s too much, and way too themey with [name]Orion[/name]. [name]Percy[/name] is an awful nickname, too.

If you wanted to keep with the theme I think [name]Apollo[/name] could work nicely.

I think [name]Perseus[/name] and [name]Orion[/name] are better than [name]Apollo[/name] and [name]Orion[/name]. [name]Both[/name] [name]Perseus[/name] and [name]Orion[/name] are relatively minor mythological figures, as opposed to the very in-your-face major deity, [name]Apollo[/name].

I also think [name]Perseus[/name] is wearable, thanks largely to the book series.

That being said, two mythological names will sound very matchy and themey together. I think you could choose another rare bird which would really make [name]Orion[/name] shine, and not seem like part of a boxed set. Perhaps [name]Perseus[/name] could be moved to the middle slot, as in your potential girl’s name.

Thoughts:

[name]Maxim/name
[name]Rohan[/name]
[name]Aramis[/name]
[name]Everest[/name]
[name]Peregrine[/name]
[name]Zephyr[/name]
[name]Evander[/name]
[name]Cosmas[/name]
[name]Inigo[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]Theron[/name]
Tycho

I like the name [name]Perseus[/name] quite a bit, though I do feel it’d be hard to avoid people calling him [name]Percy[/name] at school and such, it’s just such a natural, shortened nickname most people would probably jump to it pretty quick (like [name]Thadd[/name] from [name]Thaddeus[/name] or [name]Theo[/name] from [name]Theodorus[/name]).

The Greek mythology connection with his brother [name]Orion[/name] would be a bit ‘themey’, but if that doesn’t bother you then I don’t think it’s too big of a deal. It’s not over-the-top ‘themey’ like a pair of kids named [name]Zeus[/name] and [name]Apollo[/name] or [name]Achilles[/name] and [name]Odysseus[/name] might be.
