Pet Berries!

Okay, since we have a “[name]Berry[/name] Faces” thread, I figured we should have one for our beloved pets. Tell us all about your pets, how/why you chose their names, and of course–pictures!!!

I’ll start:

My little cat, [name]Pepper[/name]. She’s sweet and loveable, but also feisty and independent. I chose her name because she looks like a jar of mixed peppercorns.

My gianormous dog Kuno. He loves food. He’s talkative and howls and whines at me when I come home. He’s most likely a shepherd/sighthound mix. I was browsing a name site and found the name Kuno. I thought it was neat sounding, and I loved that it meant “brave”. [name]Alas[/name], Kuno is a wuss.

My ratty girls! All are sweet, loveable little ratties who like to snuggle and explore. All three were named for literary characters–just for fun!

Last but not least is my Appaloosa pony, [name]Mia[/name]. She is incredibly laid back. I can do anything to her and she doesn’t care. However, she loves her food and can get very upset if she thinks she’s not getting fed on time! I chose [name]Mia[/name] because she had a yearling foal when I got her, and the folks were calling her Mama. Mama [name]Mia[/name], get it? Lame, I know.

Oh, yay, I should’ve thought to start this thread because I already hijaked the “berry kids” thread with a picture of my dog! Her name is [name]Pepper[/name] and she’s two-and-a-half. She is a very naughty puppy

I have two dogs and a cat
Brandy nn bea, bebe, beezus, brandy bear or bear
Gemma nn Gi, Gigi, Gem, Gem Gem or Jesus
and my puddy Tommy nn Tom or Tom Cat

My cats:

[name]Princess[/name] [name]Buttercup[/name]

Sir Galahad

Aw! This thread is so cute!

Here are our fur babies:

[name]Ollie[/name]-

[name]Belle[/name]-

I am the worst at uploading pictures, but here’s a link to all my beloved fur babies!

:open_mouth:

Oh my gosh, cute overload. Kuno’s coat is gorgeous!

This is [name]Leo[/name]. He died in [name]September[/name], but I’m including him. Because.

This is [name]Sebastian[/name]. He’s our 5 year old goofball.

And [name]Clementine[/name], our newest furbaby. [name]Clem[/name] might actually be a boy. We can’t tell yet, and will find out in the next couple weeks when we take her in for spaying/neutering. If she’s a boy, we’ll name him Oleander.

OMG YES! I love showing off my babies!

Calcifer - He is named after the fire demon in Howl’s Moving Castle. It was the first movie my husband and I saw together and the only name we could agree on, lol!

Mittzy - Originally mittens because her paws are black, but my husband liked Mittzy better, and then I got in the habbit of calling her Mittzy and well, she really is more of a Mittzy than a Mittens

Calcifer and Mittzy together, both will be 3 in [name]June[/name]!

I don’t have pictures. :frowning:
But I can still tell you about my babies!
[name]Massey[/name] (prn. Mass-ee) - my tiny, runt-of-the-litter black-and-tan smooth coated dachshund. She only weighs about 5-7 lbs, but she’s perfectly healthy. She just can’t gain weight. She’ll be 5 in [name]November[/name]. She’s COMPLETELY spoiled rotten, and loves to cuddle on the couch under a blanket.

[name]Mars[/name] - I didn’t have a chance to name her, unlike [name]Massey[/name]. Since she’s a solid white, short haired (fat) cat, her nicknames include Smarsh, [name]Marsh[/name] and Marshmallow. She’s a bitter cat that hates everyone except me. With me, she loves to cuddle and be pet. And nap.

I don’t have a pic on me right now but;
I have 1 dwarf hamster- Pashmina!
I usually call her Pashie or Pashy-butt (yes I know I’m a weirdo)
For about the first five minutes I had her, her name was [name]Ginger[/name], because of her colouration, but I felt that it was too cliche for a pet, so I went with Pashmina instead, which is extremely soft, like her fur.

And [name]Ottilie[/name], your cats are flipping adorable!

This is my hamster [name]Persephone[/name].

This is my dog [name]Paige[/name]. She’s a border collie/collie mix. She’s around 8 years old.

This is my puppy [name]Harley[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]. She’s a border collie/australian cattle dog mix. She’s a little over 6 months old.

This is [name]Harley[/name] and [name]Paige[/name] in February. [name]One[/name] of my favourite pics of them.

These are my little furry darlings:

Bodie the border terrier (mn. [name]Rex[/name]) - nearly 5

Pipkin the rabbit - 7.5, an elderly lady

[name]Peri[/name] the guinea pig - 5

[name]Polly[/name] the guinea pig - 2.5

There’s Squirt the turtle too, but I don’t have a decent photo of him.

This is inspiring! We almost “impulse” adopted a kitty this past weekend.
I say “impulse” because we’ve been considering it for about a year now however, our apt building doesn’t allow pets it looks the other way as long as nobody complains - we even have a lady who works for the building who openly advertises she’ll take care of your cat while out of town. lol. It does make adopting from a shelter impossible though - since around here they call your building to make sure it’s pet friendly. :frowning: I guess I’ll just have to wait until we move in a couple of years. (And we’d move but the place is rent controlled and I’m in grad school.)

I used to have a bunny named Flecky (which means spotty in [name]German[/name]) he was white and grey and got his name from the original owner. I was about 7 and figured cliche’s were great! :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Miley[/name] is a 6 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Chow Chow.
[name]Bruce[/name] is a 4 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Chow Chow/Labrador.
PuddinTang is a 1 year old Siberian [name]Forest[/name] [name]Cat[/name].

Our newest addition: [name_u]Lexie[/name_u]! (I posted pics of the cats earlier)
She is a Sheltie/Border [name_f]Collie[/name_f]/Aussie mix

I have two cats, both moggies who were adopted from the local RSPCA shelter. They are the loves of my life; I do not know what I’d do without them.

[name_f]Lilly[/name_f] - [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] is 18 years old. She has an over-active thyroid and has also been struggling with stomach cancer for 2.5 years. It is now very advanced, so we do not know how much longer she’ll be with us, but we are enjoying spoiling her for as long as we can. [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] was the name the shelter gave her; we kept it because we liked it and it suited her - she’s quiet, gentle and elegant.

  • (this is an old photo of her, before she got sick.)

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is 15 years old and also has an over-active thyroid. She is a little monkey who loves to around people and play; you would not know she is 15 - she still acts like a kitten! She was originally named Tigra by the shelter, but we changed it to [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] to keep with the flower theme. I think Tigra would have suited her well though, because she’s a little tiger!

I love animals, and I have had many pets, but these two are definitely my favourites!

I have hundreds of pictures, but I’m not that good at uploading. Plus, that would mean I would have to decide. :frowning:

I have a fat Turkish [name_u]Van[/name_u] male cat named [name_m]Louie[/name_m] nn [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Loulou[/name_f], [name_u]Baby[/name_u], [name_f]Princess[/name_f], [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_u]Boo[/name_u] [name_u]Boo[/name_u], Sweetie, [name_m]Pinky[/name_m] Dinky Doo, the Littlest Dog, Babouska, etc. He was originally named [name_m]Garfield[/name_m] when I adopted him, but I hated that name so much. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] suited him better. I tell people that he’s named after [name_m]Louis[/name_m] XIV the [name_f]Sun[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m] because he’s fat and he looks [name_m]French[/name_m].

When I was three- or four-years-old, my family adopted a [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Retreiver named [name_u]Harley[/name_u]. We named her after the school my sister and I went to. Her middle name is [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Heart, which is adorable. She’s the friendliest (and dumbest) dog you will ever meet! I’m not quite sure how old she is now. She’s the only dog we’ve ever adopted from a breeder, so we know her exact age.

[name_f]My[/name_f] family also has a nine-year-old Border [name_f]Collie[/name_f] named [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]. That’s the name he had when we adopted him, but it went along with our theme of -ley names.

Our cat [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] died two years ago on Father’s [name_u]Day[/name_u], but I’ve had her all my life that it feels wrong excluding her. When we adopted her from the local shelter, her name was [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (before the whole [name_f]Bella[/name_f] craze). Nobody seemed to like the name, so my mom decided on [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. It’s kinda of awkward now because I know a lot of human [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]'s. I always feel the urge to say, “That’s my cat’s name.” She was a domestic shorthair black-and-gray tabby. When she was about thirteen or so, she got diabetes. :frowning:

I love my pets and their names!

I don’t have any pictures of them on my laptop right now… (on vacation)

[name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]: Siberian husky. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband got him when he was four/five years old. He named him after a clever hero from Greek mythology. He was indeed very clever and to this day, I am positive that he understood what I said. Seriously. But he was the shy and rough type who on the outside appears mean but was actually very sweet and adorable. I fell in love with him the moment I met him. He passed away thirteen years ago, and unfortunately only my oldest son remembers him well as my second oldest was a mere months old at the time. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband was heartbroken that his lifelong companion had left. Of course [name_m]Odie[/name_m] (his nn) had mated with a sweet little lady before leaving this world.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: In Greek mythology, she was [name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]'s faithful wife. Original, I know. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is a sweet little [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. A bit small for her breed. She was the perfect match for [name_m]Odie[/name_m], and bore him the most adorable pups ever! I got her as a gift for [name_m]Odie[/name_m] on his birthday. She is fortunately still here in this world. She’s definitely a smart little one. She’s a bit slow now due to her age, but still the same [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].

[name_m]Ettore[/name_m]: a mix between a Siberian Husky and a [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. [name_m]Ettore[/name_m] is the Italian form of [name_m]Hector[/name_m], the great Trojan prince. Sweet little one, a bit rough like his father.

[name_m]Hadrian[/name_m]: a mix between a Siberian Husky and a [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m] was a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] emperor, one of the “great ones” I believe. Definitely like his father.

Trajan: The epic name of yet another [name_m]Roman[/name_m] emperor goes to a proud and beloved stray cat we picked up a few years ago. We don’t know what breed he is. Poor thing was almost dead when we found him. He’s now healthy and well taken care of. Surprisingly he gets along well with the dogs.

I have a longhaired chihuahua named [name_u]Josie[/name_u], not really any reason behind her name, but I had another chihuahua puppy right before [name_u]Josie[/name_u] who I named [name_f]Joni[/name_f], so I wanted their names to be similar since I loved [name_f]Joni[/name_f]'s name!

[name_u]Josie[/name_u]:

[name_f]Joni[/name_f] (had a heart murmur, so she died young):

And my 4 chickens!

[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]:

[name_m]Steve[/name_m] (who we think is a hen…):

[name_m]Russell[/name_m] Crowe:

[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]:
