Peyton???

[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin recently mentioned the name [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] for a girl I like it but when I was looking it up it more popular for a boy.

Is it a girls name? Also was middle name would you choose to go with it?

I only know a girl named [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]. But I hate her. So I dont really like the name.

[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_u]Micah[/name_u]

Where do you live? In the US it’s more popular for the girls at #51 vs the boys at #209, and [name_u]Payton[/name_u] is also more popular for girls. It’s a surname turned into a first name.

From Behind the Name
From an English surname, originally a place name meaning “PÆGA’s town”. A famous bearer was [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_m]Randolph[/name_m] (1721-1775), the first president of the Continental Congress. It is also borne by American football quarterback [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_m]Manning[/name_m] (1976-).

The name wasn’t really in much use before the 1980’s, but before then it was really only used for boys as far as the SSA records show.

I only know girls named [name_u]Payton[/name_u].

Suggestions:
[name_u]Payton[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Payton[/name_u] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]
[name_u]Payton[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_u]Payton[/name_u] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]

I think that since a substantial number of both boys and girls are being given this name, it’s fair to say that [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] is solidly unisex. But I’ve only ever met boy’s with the name, and in my opinion it sounds better on boys. I strongly dislike the name for both genders though. I just don’t like the name in general.

It’s used on either, but the only [name_u]Payton[/name_u]/[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] I know is a boy. I would go with an obviously female name for a middle.

I’ve known two boys named [name_u]Payton[/name_u], a girl named [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], and another girl who spells it [name_f]Payten[/name_f]. It’s not a name I care for personally, but I agree with the others who said it’s solidly unisex and works just fine for either gender.

[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] is a surname and a unisex name particularly in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]. It’s incredibly trendy so it’s not my style. I think it sounds best with a more feminine name in the middle spot.

I know several little girls named [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], can’t think of any boys with the name.

I kind of hate it, and personally think it feels a bit pointless, but to each their own I suppose. It’s fairly popular here in the US.

I really dislike this name for both genders and I find it to be unisex.

If you like unisex names, I think it is cute. I prefer the spelling [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], and I think I do prefer it on a girl.

I only know girls with this name. But i dont think it ages well. Not a huge fan.

I live in [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]. [name_f]Every[/name_f] other labrador on any given block is named [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]. Football fans can be a little short-sighted.
