Phaedra?

I like the name [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] but I dont know if the mythological connotations are too strong…
I would never use it as a first name, but I love it in the combo [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that because it’s in the middle spot it doesn’t matter so much?

I love [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f], and would use it as a first, despite the myth. So I definitely think it’s fine as a middle, and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is gorgeous.

I like the name [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. I think it is quite unique. I think it is definitely fine as a middle name. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is beautiful.

[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is my niece’s middle name, and people compliment my sister on it all the time! I say go for it!

[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is a very pretty name.

I love [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]! It’s such a gorgeous name, good for a first or a middle!

I think it’s good as long as you use it for the middle name

[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is beautiful!

[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is a nice name. I could tell that it was Greek, but I don’t think a normal person would make the association with the mythological [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. I didn’t, anyway.

Also, you have it in the middle spot. I do agree; that makes it more usable as well.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!!

I would love to meet a little [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. There are so many names with mythological connections and honestly most of them are weird stories and at the very least tragic. A lot of people won’t know the story or it might ring a bell but not in particular detail. You’ll run into some who do know the story and may get mixed reactions, but I’m going to say that’ll be rare. It’s not a myth that makes someone go “why would you name her after that?!”, like naming her…Hades, might.

I think one thing to think about with these names is the situation in which their classmates look up the name [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. I don’t think her story gives them a lot to work with teasing-wise (unlike, say, [name_f]Io[/name_f], who was turned into a heifer which could lead to some unpleasant taunting and your teenage daughter going “why did you name me after a cow?! I HATE YOU” which she’d probably get over and come through just fine…and either way your teenage daughter at some point will probably put you through hell, regardless of what you name her). But whether or not a child will be teased often has nothing to do with what you name them, names are just good targets for getting at someone.

This is a very long way to say I wouldn’t worry about it. The myth association isn’t that strong or negative. [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is a great name! She can always go by Phae if it’s a problem at any point but I don’t see that happening. And I’m responding as though it’s a first name option. In the middle there’s nothing to be worried about whatsoever. It’s a beautiful combo! I love Evangeline.

I’d never seen this name before but I think its lovely. I don’t think its the myth that is the problem, its the spelling and pronunciation. I had no idea how to say it so I had look it up. Other then that its a wonderful name and actually very well suited for a middle name.

I really like [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. I don’t think the name in association with the myth is at all strong, so I don’t see that as an issue.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is gorgeous! I really love it.

beautiful as a middle and love the combo!

Oh my goodness I actually thought I was about to have a heart attack out of excitement when I saw the title of this thread. [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] is my all-time favourite name ever!!! It is such a lovely, unique gorgeous name and I love it so much and am so glad somebody else is brave enough to use it. I honestly don’t think the myth is a problem, and would use it as a first without even blinking so as a middle I see no problem with it whatsoever. I heard the name before I knew the myth so I don’t think many people would know it. The combo you have it in is lovely also

My daughter is [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] and we never have anyone voice any connection to the myth. In fact, we get complimented on it all the time.

(I do want to mention that [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] is an actress, just in case you were not aware and in case that may be an issue for you.)

I’ve loved the name [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] since I was 12 years old when I met someone with the name. I had my daughter at 35, so my opinion is one based on a strong, life-long love for the name.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, it’s very encouraging!
I hadn’t actually heard of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] before but as a couple of you have mentioned it i may have to give some thought to that…
