My mama’s intuition was right, it’s a girl! My husband is coming around to some of my name loves, but I’m working on new list (he is great at the veto!). His middle name is [name]Philip[/name], so it could be cool to name her [name]Philippa[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]. I’m a [name]Jennifer[/name] and when I was younger, I wished my name was [name]Genevieve[/name]. My mom also called me [name]Juniper[/name], which was my favorite nn–if you can’t tell by username
So, name ideas (after her mom and dad):
[name]Philippa[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name] [name]Juniper[/name]
I love the idea of the nn [name]Pippa[/name], but is the [name]Pippa[/name] Middleton association too much?
What other nns could work? Is [name]Fifer[/name] a stretch?
Thanks for your input, it’s very much appreciated!
Aside from [name]Pippa[/name], I’ve heard [name]Pip[/name], [name]Pippi[/name], [name]Polly[/name], [name]Poppy[/name] and a tomboy once who went by [name]Phil[/name].
Naturally for me would be calling her [name]Philly[/name], which I assume you want to avoid. [name]Pippa[/name] is fine, though I do think of [name]Pippa[/name] Middleton when I hear it. I think [name]Fifer[/name] is trying to hard, unless you call her that and only that from birth- otherwise it could get confusing.
[name]Philippa[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] is gorgeous! [name]Genevieve[/name] is on my short list for middle names, but sadly Husband absolutely refuses to even consider [name]Philippa[/name].
Personally, I like [name]Pippa[/name] and liked it long before the Middleton sisters came onto the radar. It may have that association now, but I think it will be minimal. Other great nn’s pp’s suggested are [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Polly[/name]. I always loved [name]Penny[/name] as a nn for either [name]Philippa[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name].
You could do [name]Pippa[/name] just fine. I like the idea of [name]Lili[/name] ([name]Lee[/name]-lee).
[name]Fifer[/name] is a stretch imo, but it is possible.
@lucystone–It sounds like we have names and husbands in common. I think the only reason mine is considering [name]Philippa[/name] is out of vanity! My DH doesn’t like [name]Genevieve[/name], but in this combination after our own names, I think he’ll see the light.
My one concern with [name]Penny[/name] ([name]Penelope[/name]) is that I’m a [name]Jen[/name], known as [name]Jennie[/name] to some…and [name]Jennie[/name]'s [name]Penny[/name] keeps going through my mind, don’t love. Our ln has -ie ending…so fns/nns ending in -y, -ie aren’t my favorite flow. So, as cute as Polly, Penny, and Poppy are, I’m not sure it works.
It’s nice to hear that everyone thinks Pippa could work.
