I was traveling across country this weekend on Amtrak and a couple of less common names I heard on two boys were [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_m]Houston[/name_m] (not related).
What do you think. I actually like both of them for different reasons. I like the mythological aspect of the [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and I like place names (since I am named after a place too).
I really like the name [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]- I used to babysit two little brothers whose names were [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_m]Saxon[/name_m]
I love, love, love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], mostly because of the mythological connection. [name_m]Houston[/name_m] is actually pretty cool as well. It reminds me of space travels and discoveries, but I can’t help but hear “[name_m]Houston[/name_m], we have a problem”.
I immediately thought [name_f]Arizona[/name_f] and [name_u]Texas[/name_u] when I saw them together. Neither is my style, but I went to school with a very sweet boy named [name_m]Houston[/name_m]. He and his brothers were all named after [name_u]Texas[/name_u] cities.
As someone who lives in [name_m]Houston[/name_m]. I wouldn’t. Lol. It’s really not the best city to be named after it’s not like [name_m]Austin[/name_m] that’s beautiful hill country, better weather, less humid. [name_m]Houston[/name_m] is hot, muggy, crowded, flat, and boring. Personally I’m not really a fan of place names in general. I know it was a surname for a founder but I think it should stay that way.
The ‘[name_m]Houston[/name_m] we have a problem’ connection is actually kind of fun. I’m not a big fan of place names, but I think of a bird when I hear [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], which makes it much nicer in my book.
