Now this isn’t to discuss whether or not [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] should be used on girls, because despite popular opinion, I can not see it as anything but feminine. I guess if you are referring to the city, but my first thought it always the mythical creature, which is a symbol of rebirth (how many men do you know that give birth?) and if you just pause to Google Chinese Wedding Dragon and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], you will see that in that culture, the [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is a symbol of pure feminine energy to contrast the pure masculine energy of the dragon. Now that that is out of the way…
Help me think of a name to go with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]! I think, being such a strong name, that it needs something a little softer to balance it out. You can get an idea of names I like from my signature. Nothing referencing or meaning light of fire since I think that would be a little overboard.
The only name that has kind of stuck for me was [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but it is kinda meh.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is on the boys top 100 list in Australia at 83. I think of it as masculine and then I think of [name_u]Mel[/name_u] B’s daughter because she was all over Australian media during her one season of judging X factor Australia.
I like the sound of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but it is a bit wordy. I like (from your other names) [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
:?:
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is wordy for me too.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Imogene[/name_f] (quirky cute)
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] for a girl…ideas:
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]*
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]*
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Audriana[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]*
- = favorites
I also like Phae, Pixi, [name_u]Pen[/name_u] as nicknames for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].
I can only see [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] as a male name… It just does nothing to my eyes as a girls name.
I dont really like your idea of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
What about …
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Xaviera[/name_f]
On my list I have [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Pixie[/name_f]) but I also love the previous suggestion of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. I think [name_f]El[/name_f]- names make a good pair because they are pretty and soft. (Most of them. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Electra[/name_f] is a little hard core)
While I’m certainly not a fan of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] on either gender, I think it needs something obviously feminine, as it is more commonly used for a boy.
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
Thank you to everyone who responded!
@[name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] and xredd: Thank you both, but I’d prefer a name I haven’t used yet. With so many wonderful options, why repeat? However, [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] was a nice suggestion. It is close, but not quite there for me.
@Lerenard [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is pretty, and I totally agree with you about [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Imogene[/name_f] being quirky cute! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] maybe? I really like that one. Or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] ([name_m]Thay[/name_m]-lee-a), I love that both names have really positive mythological connections.
@ashleyjuliette [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] really stands out to me. Gorgeous. Also Phae and Pixi and absolutely adorable nicknames!
@Larkub101 [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] is GORGEOUS. I wish I had beat you to it. If you get the chance to use that on a real little girl I would be absolutely thrilled to see her birth announcement or to somehow randomly run into her so I could just gush over how lovely her name is. And I think you are right about [name_f]El[/name_f] names. (And the impression of [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Electra[/name_f] lmao)
@Tfzokghadr I am so glad that you understand where I am coming from. It is so US centric to say that [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is “all boy” which is the response I get about this name a lot. I am in no way an expert, but this is a particular example that I am familiar with, so to say it is only for boys is kind of insulting.
You gave me so many lovely options, I’d have to narrow them down to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
@Lawsonhaley [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], and [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] are all very pretty.
Oh how am I to decide from all these wonderful names?
@myosotis [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] are both magical in combination with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]! I love them both!
The decision is made. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!
