It’s really always pee-a to me, sorry. And I pronounce [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]'e ending pee-a, too, so I’ll definitely automatically pronounce her nickname pee-a, not pie-uh.

I am a huge admirer of [name_f]Pia[/name_f] as a stand alone, and I pronounce it as “pee-uh”. I guess it is unavoidable to go down the pee route, but the name is still gorgeous to me.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is pronounced oh-lee-mpee-ah, so pie-ah wouldn’t make sense to me
I’m not a fan of changing the way names are pronounced either

I know how [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is pronounced. It’s just [name_f]Pia[/name_f] that I’m feeling off about… hence my question.

It’s pronounced Pee-ah as a name in it’s own right, and I feel that since it’s so close to [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f] and [name_f]Nia[/name_f], trying to get people to say it as “pie-ah” will be more hassle than it’s worth.

ETA: also agree that Pie-ah doesnt make sense as a nn for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] because of the pronunciation. Could [name_u]Olly[/name_u]/[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] or [name_f]Mia[/name_f]/[name_f]Lia[/name_f] work instead for you?

[name_f]Pia[/name_f] has always been pee-uh, and as a nickname for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] surely it’d be pee-uh too.

I knew a [name_f]Pia[/name_f] (just [name_f]Pia[/name_f]) who said it Pee-uh, so that’s how I say and most like it. But as it’s just a nn, I don’t think it matters all that much how it’s said. It’s only an occasional nn, and there are loads out there that are much more of a stretch. I love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] btw!

I have only heard it pronounced pee-ah (like [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f]…). The pie-ah pronunciation would never have occurred to me.

I second this!

Pee-a.

However, seeing as it’s a nn for Olypmpia it doesn’t really matter imo. Pie-uh would probably work as well.

Or why not call her Pie? The likelihood of Pie-uh becoming Pie seems rather high to me personally (or maybe that’s just my family… My OH has a female relative called Cookie…) and there wouldn’t be any room for a Pee-u/Pie-uh discussion.

[name_f]Pia[/name_f] is a gorgeous name pronounces pee-uh. Definately using it as a stand alone.
