This is an awesome list! I’m going to give you my impressions on every name.
-
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Sanne[/name_f] – I like both of these names independently, but together they are a lot of “S” name. I would split up this combo.
-
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] – <3 this is my favorite from the whole list!
-
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] – [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]! is [name_f]Opal[/name_f] the exact family name for you? I have both [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] on my family name list too, to honor a [name_m]Paul[/name_m].
-
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Edie[/name_f] “June/Junie” – I love [name_f]Junia[/name_f], but I usually don’t like NNs as MNs. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] would be lovely, or [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u].
-
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Angela[/name_f] – [name_f]Angela[/name_f] is NMSAA but I get that it’s a family name. That aside, the two soft G’s close together give this combo a choppy flow. What about updating [name_f]Angela[/name_f] to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Angelina[/name_f]? [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] would be nice, or [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] & [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
-
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f] [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] – ^ ditto about NNs as MNs, and [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is dated too. There are so many amazing [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] variants that are more current. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would work wonderfully to honor a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], since they have the same first letter and meaning. [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] sounds okay, but I guess [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Margot[/name_f] don’t work as MNs for [name_f]Marisol[/name_f].
-
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] – [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] is overdue for a comeback, and I’m jealous that you have [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] as a family name! Alliteration isn’t my style, but as far as alliterative combos go, this one is nice. [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] could also be a good fit for a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] variant – [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has antique charm, and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is very on trend.
-
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] – I love [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], a real underused classic!
-
[name_f]Ondine[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] – This one is just okay to me. When I say it aloud it sounds like “on-DEE-na-NOOK”. [name_f]Ondine[/name_f] is a hard one to pair, I’m not sure what would flow better.
-
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] “Aggie” – [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is a little too witchy for my taste, and makes me think “ghastly” even though the sounds are not actually that similar. [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] has moldy charm, though. I do really like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] or [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] for NN [name_f]Aggie[/name_f].
-
[name_f]Ebba[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] – <3 another favorite!
-
[name_u]Clove[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] – this one stands out in the “sibset” as much more unisex and less frilly than the other combos, but I really like it!
-
[name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] – again, alliteration isn’t my thing personally, and especially alliterative consonant combos. They sound like cartoon character names IMHO. I would shake things up to [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]!
-
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] – [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] feels very dated to me, NMS
-
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] – I love [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], it’s also a challenging one to pair IMO (for the same reason as Ondine). [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is a lot to saddle a child with – it sounds lovely in this combo and I have it on my own GP list, but I wouldn’t use it IRL because of the myth.
-
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] “Zalie” – <3 love! this is a very close second fave to [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
-
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u] “Gwyn” – I’m not a Gwen/Gwyn fan, but this is a nice combo.
-
[name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_u]Felice[/name_u] – [name_m]Heath[/name_m] makes me think of the candy bar. The combo sounds fine, the names are just NMS.
-
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] – another one where the combo sounds fine, I just personally dislike both names.
-
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Watts[/name_m] – I’m assuming [name_m]Watts[/name_m] is a family surname? that’s a tough one to pair, but [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is a good balance for it.
-
[name_u]Amos[/name_u] [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] – so stately! I really like this one. I like the NN [name_m]Ames[/name_m] for [name_u]Amos[/name_u] (or [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], or even Abram), even though it’s the same number of letters.
-
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] – I like [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m]! I have a feeling you won’t find many [name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] fans here, but I have a soft spot for it [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is the one I don’t care for in this combo.
-
[name_m]Clement[/name_m] [name_u]Banjo[/name_u] – The combo is a little jarring with FN and MN being such different styles… or maybe they balance well? Mostly this is NMS because [name_m]Clement[/name_m] is just a little too moldy for me, I can’t imagine it on a baby. But then again, I was saying that about [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] just a few years ago, so maybe Clement’s time will come.
-
[name_m]Pascal[/name_m] [name_u]Jack[/name_u] – I love [name_m]Pascal[/name_m] (and the NN Pax!). I don’t like [name_u]Jack[/name_u] in the MN because, again, I just have a thing against NNs as MNs. [name_m]Pascal[/name_m] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] would be better, or another MN altogether.
-
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_u]Will[/name_u] “Ferdy” – ^ ditto about NNs as MNs. [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_m]Willem[/name_m], [name_m]Willis[/name_m], or [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] would all pair nicely with [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m].
-
[name_u]Virgil[/name_u] [name_m]Lester[/name_m] – [name_u]Virgil[/name_u] would be a really hard name for a kid IRL. As a GP or pet name, this combo is great! as a real name, I would flip it to [name_m]Lester[/name_m] [name_u]Virgil[/name_u] if you absolutely must use [name_u]Virgil[/name_u].
-
[name_m]Bertram[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] “Birch” – [name_u]Birch[/name_u] is such a creative NN for [name_m]Bertram[/name_m]! I never thought of that before and I love it.
-
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Littlejohn – Littlejohn can’t be a given name, can it? It reads as a family pet name, and that makes it an odd NN. I would just go with Forres [name_u]John[/name_u], or even [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_m]Little[/name_m].
-
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] – [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] is A+. I don’t like [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] personally, but it’s a classic you can’t go wrong with.
-
[name_m]Alger[/name_m] [name_u]Spruce[/name_u] “Al” – [name_m]Alger[/name_m] is interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. It does make me think of algae, especially paired with a botanical MN. I like [name_m]Albert[/name_m] or [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] much better as long forms for [name_m]Al[/name_m].
-
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_u]Sam[/name_u] – Again, the NN in the middle sounds odd to me. [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Samson[/name_m] sound like much more complete names.
-
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] – [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] in the middle, I’m not a fan of [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] as it sounds like a dog name to me. But O names are trendy right now, so maybe it’s ready for a comeback!
-
[name_u]Corbin[/name_u] [name_m]Dante[/name_m] – another combo that sounds fine, I just don’t personally like either name.
-
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] [name_m]Emilio[/name_m] “Cy” – <3 This is my favorite from the list! [name_m]Emilio[/name_m] and Emil(e) are underused gems IMO.
-
[name_m]Oslo[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] – I really like this one too!
-
[name_m]Monty[/name_m] [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] – [name_m]Monty[/name_m] sounds like a NN to me, I would use [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] or [name_m]Montague[/name_m] with NN [name_m]Monty[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is that [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is a loaded name to use IRL, but again, O names are trendy, and if [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is wearable then I guess [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is too!
I quite like…
Sybil Seraphine
Clove Elisabeth
Frida Frances
Heath Felice
Jarvis Michael
Pascal Jack (though I think Jack Pascal would be really great too!)
Rupert Daniel is nice too, but I love Harry Potter and those two are the names of the actors who play Ron and Harry. Also Forrest Littlejohn just reminds me of the Oo-De-Lally song! “Robin Hood and Little John, walking through the forest…”
I like [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Temperance[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Watts[/name_m] & [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u].
I really like [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Angela[/name_f], [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Watts[/name_m], [name_u]Amos[/name_u] [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], [name_m]Clement[/name_m] [name_u]Banjo[/name_u], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] [name_m]Dante[/name_m], [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]! So many good ones!
girls: agatha ruth, frida frances
boys: quincy douglas, bertram albert, rupert daniel, cyrus emilio, oslo benedict, monty romeo
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Watts[/name_m], [name_m]Pascal[/name_m] [name_u]Jack[/name_u], [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] are lovely! They’re all wonderful, but those are my particular favourites.
