I was reading about Pico Iyer today, and now I’m thinking about his name. His parents took the name Pico from Italian Renaissance philosopher [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m] Pico della Mirandola.
I’m not sure if it’s a name I would use, but I find the sound appealing, and I wanted to get some other people’s reactions to it.
I could see it on the quirky, sensitive young male protagonist from a children’s novel. [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Nello[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], and [name_m]Bede[/name_m] give me that sort of feeling as well. I really like that vibe.
I see it and think pico de gallo, or Pico-[name_m]Robertson[/name_m] (a street/neighborhood in LA). [name_m]Rico[/name_m] or [name_u]Nico[/name_u] are better, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. It might be a cute nickname for something like [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] though.
I instantly think of Pico de gallo, so probably not the best for a name. I really like the suggestion for it as a nickname for [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] though! It could also work well for a character in a novel.
As a science major my first thought was the prefix pico-, like picometer, picoliter, etc. Also it reminded me of the animal called a pika? Neither of these are very common associations, though, hahaha.
