If you prefer the “peers” pronunciation I would recommend choosing [name_m]Piers[/name_m].

Maybe this is a regional thing but I’ve always heard [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] pronounced the same as the word “pierce”.

I think people would end up pronouncing [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] as pierce so for the pronunciation you want I’d go with [name_m]Piers[/name_m]

I’ve only heard of both spellings being pronounced the same as the word “pierce.” (I’m from the US)

I’m also in the US. I have always heard [name_m]Piers[/name_m] as peers and [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] as either or. I love both but prefer the peers pronunciation.

[name_m]Piers[/name_m]. I do think most would say [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] as ‘pierce’ and not ‘peers’ as you like it. Besides that, I think [name_m]Piers[/name_m] just looks nicer in general.

Same here. If you prefer the peers pronunciation, though, I would go with [name_m]Piers[/name_m]. I voted for that anyway, as I think it looks nicer, but I do think it will get misspelled (and probably mispronounced) as [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] if that’s a concern of yours.

That’s a lovely combination by the way!

In my local area I’ve only seen the name spelt as [name_m]Pearce[/name_m] and pronounced as “pierce.” I prefer this spelling. For the “peers” pronunciation [name_m]Piers[/name_m] is more intuitive, as others have mentioned.

Doesn’t bother me. People should pronounce [name_m]Piers[/name_m] correctly because of the words pier and piers but I’m sure people will make it complicated. I’ve found that people will misspell and mispronounce the simplest names. For example my name, [name_u]Jean[/name_u], barely anyone spells it correctly (and it’s often crazy made-up spellings not something like [name_u]Gene[/name_u]) and many pronounce it [name_u]Jan[/name_u] (shoulder shrug).

Thank you very much, everyone!
