I’m a playwright. I am currently working on writing a play about sailors/pirates. The main character starts out a slave to the pirates and is redeemed by the sailors. She is a tough character. I’m trying to find the perfect name. I have a long list of names that I am considering, such as the following:

When is your story set? And is it set in this world or a made up one? What are the other characters’ names?
From your list I really like [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]; I can imagine the name on a feisty person but at the same time it still feels normal enough to not take you out of the story (which I feel names like [name_m]Luck[/name_m] or [name_u]Fortune[/name_u] do, as no real person would be named this, at least not in English).
Names like [name_f]Jinx[/name_f] or [name_u]Storm[/name_u] may also be too “fitting” for such a cool character, making it feel less realisitic to me (even if it’s fantasy), unless there’s a prophecy involved that tells of a feisty girl and she’s named for that. However, I do think they could be used as “pirate bynames” and the sailors could only call her that.
