Looking for obscure boys names, mostly outside of the U.S.
I do not want any like celebrities have. Please think of anywhere in the world places you can think of that may work for a boy.
ie. A boys name I was thinking of was Torreon. A city in Mexico. However it brings up painful memories of an ex so I’ve had to scratch that one.
The more unusual the better, but I’d kinda like it to sound a little like a name!
[name]Odessa[/name] (Ukraine) and [name]Adelaide[/name] (Australia) spring to mind. Also, [name]Carlisle[/name] ([name]Scotland[/name]) for a boy and [name]Ailsa[/name] ([name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Craig[/name], an island off [name]Scotland[/name]).
[name]Cooper[/name] ([name]Scotland[/name]) has quite a trendy feel to it, and there is [name]Lourdes[/name] ([name]France[/name]), although that is very [name]Madonna[/name] now.
I think [name]Vienna[/name] would make a good name. [name]Ginevra[/name] means [name]Geneva[/name] and [name]Venetia[/name] means [name]Venice[/name], too.
Vancouver- with the nn [name]Van[/name]
[name]Oslo[/name]-Norway
[name]Berlin[/name]-although this might be better on a girl
[name]Cairo[/name]-[name]Egypt[/name]
Edmonton-[name]Alberta[/name], [name]Ca[/name]
Frankfurt- Germany
Kiev- Ukraine
[name]Kingston[/name]- [name]Jamaica[/name]
[name]Quito[/name]- Ecuador
Reykjavik-Iceland
[name]Riyadh[/name]- Saudi [name]Arabia[/name]
Egyptian:

Nope, not carried away at all! Thanks guys these are great!!
I wonder how Seto is pronounced? See-toe?
Seto, [name]Cairo[/name] and [name]Kobe[/name] all went on my list right off the bat. The others I will say out loud a few times and see how they sound if I’m picturing calling a child that!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Devon[/name] - a gorgeous area of [name]England[/name]
or Taupo - New Zealand
[name]Atherton[/name] - Queensland Australia
[name]Bowen[/name] - Queensland Australia
[name]Just[/name] a little correction as I’ve seen this come up on Nameberry before, there isn’t actually a place called ‘[name]Cooper[/name]’ in [name]Scotland[/name] but there is a Cupar ([name]Fife[/name]) and a Coupar [name]Angus[/name]. Neither of which make very good name sakes if you were to visit them.
Some Scottish place names that could work for boys (and would make beautiful namesakes worth visiting one day):
They were pretty much my favourites from the list too.
For the record [name]Kobe[/name] is Koh-bee (Like [name]Toby[/name]) and Seto it Seh-toe, like [name]Set[/name] with an O on the end.
[name]Glad[/name] you liked them.
My 3 year old son is anmed [name]Arran[/name] for the scottish island…Its a wonderful place name, [name]Arran[/name] is a gorgeous island, the name means “island dweller” and theres a ridge on the island called “the sleeping warrior” so thats one of our nicknames for our [name]Arran[/name]!
It also has the beenfit of sounding name-ey, as it is close to [name]Aaron[/name].
