Plamen

Pronounced plah-mehn, it’s of Bulgarian origin and means fiery one, also has the meaning of flame in some other Slavic languages. It’s a common masculine name in Bulgaria and is the name of a former prime minister.

What do you all think of this name?

This was my exact thought too

Hmm, I’m not sure on the sounds or the look but the meaning is cool

It sounds as if I’m spitting it when I say it. It feels quite awkward to me. The meaning is very cool though, and the name is fun!

I quite like it! Definitely a cool meaning :fire: I too don’t love the “plah” sound at the start but it’s refreshing to see a new -en name I haven’t considered before!

Not sure about the sound but an interesting name for sure

This. It’s interesting and unexpected and the meaning is cool, though!

If you are not bulgarian or live in Bulgaria I don’t see this one being pleasant to wear in the US.

I live in a house full of teenagers so i apologize for the bluntness but kids are mean. Besides sounding like an unfortunate skin rash, Play-doh, Semen, & Hymen all came to mind instantly.
I could also see “plays with men”

i see this name being slaughtered in Middle/Highschool. This one would come with a lot of ridicule.

Im sure its great in Bulgaria but its a definite no for me.

The meaning is interesting, but the name doesn’t appeal to me personally. I guess I find the “plah” sound a bit awkward. Probably fine if you live in Bulgaria, but if you’re looking for a name with cross-cultural appeal I think there are Bulgarian names that sound better in [name_f]English[/name_f].

I agree. I can’t quite place it but that was my first thought too. I like the meaning though! It just might not work the best in [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries,

Same here! It reminds me of the name of a body fluid that starts with S.
