What are your favourite planet names?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_u]Neptune[/name_u] for a girl and [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] for a boy
George! The original name for Uranus.
thatās so cool! I never knew that!
also just discovered that when the romans studied greek astronomy they gave the planets their own godās names. [name_f]Venus[/name_f] ([name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]), Mercurius ([name_m]Hermes[/name_m]), [name_u]Mars[/name_u] ([name_m]Ares[/name_m]), Luppiter ([name_m]Zeus[/name_m]) and Saturns ([name_m]Cronus[/name_m]). Then later when [name_u]Neptune[/name_u] was discovered they named [name_u]Neptune[/name_u] NeptÅ«nus after [name_m]Poseidon[/name_m].
how cool is that!
Ok so I did a double take when I read this title
My absolute favourite is [name_u]Neptune[/name_u], followed by [name_u]Mercury[/name_u], then [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u].
I also love the moonās names, especially [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]ās and [name_m]Saturn[/name_m]ās!
Jupiter!
I like [name_u]Mars[/name_u] and [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]
Terra
@oceansea yes! There is a very cool āCosmosā episode (by [name_u]Neil[/name_u] deGrasse [name_u]Tyson[/name_u]), available on Netflix or Hulu, that goes into the history in an almost standup comedian way
Itās the only planet whose moons are not the godās [planetās] dieties/minions.
Why?
As a kind of concession for rescinding the namesake naming of the planet after one of the worldās most powerful countries at the time, the planetās moons were given names from characters from Shakespearean plays. As an homage to [name_f]England[/name_f].
My favorite planet name for a girl is [name_f]Venus[/name_f] and for a boy is [name_u]Mars[/name_u] or [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u].
Jupiter is the one I like most, but [name_m]Saturn[/name_m] is intriguing as a name.
Mars, one hundred percent. Iām also intrigued by [name_f]Venus[/name_f], but I donāt think I could ever use it.
Jupiter for me!!
Mars & [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] for a boy, and [name_f]Venus[/name_f] for a girl
Elio means [name_u]Sun[/name_u], if that counts!
Venus for a girl is definitely my favourite!
I also have to give a shoutout to [name_m]Pluto[/name_m] for a boy. Does [name_m]Pluto[/name_m] still count as a planetā¦? I wouldnāt name a HUMAN this, but this is what I named my cat. I honestly think all the planet names (except maybe Uranusā¦) make amazing pet names!
Mars, [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u], [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] and [name_f]Venus[/name_f]!
I love putting them as middles, [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_u]Mars[/name_u] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u]
My favourite is [name_u]Neptune[/name_u]š„°
If you like [name_u]Jupiter[/name_u] (how could you not, itās a beautiful, terrifying, and just really fascinating celestrial body!!)⦠Itās associated prefix is [name_m]Jov[/name_m]- .
Ie the moons surrounding it are apart of the [name_u]Jovian[/name_u] system.
You may be able to find a name that is related, like, Jovia, Juvia, Juvian, Jovian, [name_u]Jovial[/name_u] (meaning cheerful, good-spirited, etc).
Thereās also dwarf planets [name_f]Ceres[/name_f] and [name_u]Eris[/name_u] to consider as well!
