Plausible nickname for Fiona?

DH and I will be trying for #2 in a few months. We have a beautiful baby girl and it took us a good 18 months to agree on her name: [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. While we were discussing names for DD, my husband suggested [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. We both liked [name_u]Clare[/name_u] more at the time, but now I’m starting to think of names again for #2 (in true Nameberry form!)

Last night I was pondering [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] again. I am wondering “[name_f]Oona[/name_f]” pronounced UNE-uh, is a plausible nn for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. Obviously derived from the last three letters of the name.

Thanks berries!

[name_f]Oona[/name_f] is a cute NN and totally plausible for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. You could also do [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f]/[name_f]Juna[/name_f]/[name_u]June[/name_u]!

I’m sure it’s fine, though I would leen more towards [name_f]Ona[/name_f], (Oh-na) probably because it’s pronounced fee-oh-na.

Agreed. I totally want it to work, though, because I love [name_f]Oona[/name_f]!

I agree! I know [name_f]Ona[/name_f] makes more sense, but I want [name_f]Oona[/name_f] to work because I think it’s soooo cute but wouldn’t choose it as a stand alone name.

I think it would work! Personally, I like [name_f]Ona[/name_f] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as nicknames for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]!
