super inspired by the baseball-inspired names blog post from earlier this week 
when i think of my names, they’re august names, walking off the ball field with clay on their knees, handfuls of dandelions shoved into pockets— it’s always sunset, they’re walking three blocks home, stopping to get ice cream from the ice cream truck near the park. milky oranges, yellows, and blues. they have their arms slung over each other’s shoulders. not necessarily Baseball names, but names that play baseball and love hard and daydream in the grass. i know i ask a variation of this question literally all the time— but the picture is very sharp today. and you guys always have the best ideas.
here’s a list: catcher, ceil, dot, jack, shea, maeby, annie, joy, joycie, hopie, ruthie, thomas, jamesy, frankie, sunny, sol, babe, baby, gus, junie, bina, lou, janie, hannie, roberto, hobby, ollie, aulay, sammy, samma, scout, nayeli, grace, ellie, molly, jess, jamie, posey, cally, roscoe, pascoe, murphy, clancy, bunny, lil
and i love this list very much. not too moody, not too sharp, not very floaty, kind of rough around the edges, not dramatic or ethereal, you can imagine them at a barbecue or a block party, eating a mustard smothered hotdog like everyone else. but sometimes i’m like — do i love this name or do i love how it makes me feel? y’know ?? also several of them are essentially the same name :,) and many of them — though i love them — i know are just nicknames.
just looking to expand! maybe add a few real names! maybe just dream about summer for a minute, ice cream dripping onto the sidewalk
