So I love the nickname Ruthie. I think its so vintage and sweet, but probably doesnt hold up as a first name very well. I’m less excited about Ruth however. It’s even shorter than Ruthie, it has almost a hard stop to me, and I KNOW Ruth is a perfectly fine, perfectly acceptable first name that plenty of people have and have had all the way back to biblical days. But in my head it just seems like a nickname. Anyways my question is, is there any other way to get to Ruthie, and is there any way to make Ruth into a double barreled name that sounds fresh? I think the best way would be to make Ruth the second name. Like Emma-Ruth. Does anyone have any other ideas to get to the nn Ruthie?
I’ve heard of [name_f]Ruthanne[/name_f]?
Maybe…
Ruby-Cherith ‘Ruthie’
Ruby-Elspeth ‘Ruthie’
Ruby-Delyth ‘Ruthie’
Ruby-Thea ‘Ruthie’
Lily-Ruth ‘Ruthie’
Amy-Ruth
Mia-Ruth
Etta-Ruth
Lola-Ruth
Rue-Dorothy
Maybe Sadie-Ruth, Maisie-Ruth or Emily-Ruth ![]()
The only [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] I know doesn’t have a longer name. It’s just [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], and it’s divine! I adore just [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]. ![]()
I love [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]! I think you could use it as a standalone, especially if you don’t like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. Ultimately, if you intended to call her [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], I think it’s fine to name her that!
You could make a double barrel with [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] out of about anything.
One of my nieces has [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as a middle (it was a great aunts name) and a lot of us call her Ru Ru for short and I think that is adorable too!
I love these so much!! How do you say cherith? Exactly as it looks?
Great ideas! Thanks!
Im considering just [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f].
I love Ru Ru!! So sweet. And considering just [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] now after these comments!
Good ideas! Thanks!!
Could Ruthia, Euthenia, or Author work?
Euthenia has a similar meaning to Ruth if that matters and Author would be spunky
Also, my grandma is a [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], nobody questions it and it stands on its own just fine
I say it Cheh-rith (like cherish, with th at the end). I think it can be pronounced keh-rith too though
