My husband and I are trying to decide on a girl name and while we do (almost surprisingly at this point, haha) agree on two names, we can’t agree on which of those two names it will be, if it is a girl.
My first choice is [name]Reese[/name] [name]Aileen[/name] ([name]Aileen[/name] is after my Mother and pronounced “[name]Ilene[/name]”). I love the name and the fact that it isn’t very popular in our area.
My husband’s first choice is [name]Ella[/name]. We would probably go with [name]Ella[/name] [name]Rae[/name] ([name]Rae[/name] is after my Grandfather). While I have always loved the name [name]Ella[/name], I just feel that it has become so popular over the last several years.
I don’t know if I should cave and go with [name]Ella[/name] if it’s a girl, being that I would be picking the middle name regardless and I do like [name]Ella[/name] as well, or if I should hold out and see if he may just possibly change his mind in the end? I should add that he originally agreed to [name]Reese[/name] and really liked the name until I brought up [name]Ella[/name] 5 minutes later and is now adamant about that being the name if it is a girl. Opinions please. Thanks so much!
[name]Ella[/name] is a beautiful name, but its become so popular and common I’d personally avoid using it. I mean, she definitely wouldn’t be the only [name]Ella[/name] in her class, but if thats okay with you, maybe you should go for it.
[name]Reese[/name] [name]Aileen[/name] is very pretty and unusual so I’d be more inclined to go for that option.
A nice compromise for [name]Ella[/name] could be [name]Elle[/name] though, which is just as beautiful but nowhere near as popular.
[name]Hope[/name] that helped!
I prefer [name]Reese[/name] [name]Aileen[/name] as well. While [name]Ella[/name] is pretty, she is extremely popular right now. My six-year-old cousin had three girls named [name]Ella[/name] in his kindergarten class this year. The other three kindergarten classes in his school had at least one [name]Ella[/name] in each class. [name]Reese[/name] [name]Aileen[/name] is much more unique and has a distinguished feel. She has a lot more substance than [name]Ella[/name] [name]Rae[/name] and I love that [name]Aileen[/name] honors your mother. I’m usually not a fan of [name]Reese[/name] on a girl but I really like it for you.
Thanks for the feedack ladies! I really appreciate it. I’ve had my heart set on [name]Reese[/name] for a long time now, so we’ll see. Hopefully I can convince him about how popular [name]Ella[/name] is, etc. and perhaps he’ll change his mind.
Yes, take him strolling through some playgrounds and hope that there’s an [name]Ella[/name] behaving badly
to taint his vision of the name! (or at least that there are 1 or 2, to illustrate your point)
